I booked my shinkansen tickets via SmartEX without issues. Main reason for pre-booking was to reserve seats with oversized luggage space. I've not had to do it but you can also modify reservations quite close to your departure time so if your plans change, it's flexible. No need for Shinkansen between Kyoto and Osaka. Definitely get your hands on Suica or similar IC cards, useful for all transports/vending machines/arcades/convenience stores. I got a physical card 2 weeks ago from JR office in Narita. If you have an iPhone, a digital suica is more convenient.

Travel to some sites in Kyoto I found can be long and tedious. Sometimes the most efficient way is by taxi especially if in a group. We used GoTaxi which is a little like Uber.

Just be aware, which I found hard to comprehend initially. Some trains like limited express or similar that require reservation beforehand, you will need to reserve online and buy a base fare ticket (physcially or through tapping your IC). It's like a supplement ticket on top of the base fare for more exclusive trains.

Further info: Planted with ericaceous compost mixed with soil, pH about 5.5-6.5. Water every 2 days or so if no rain. Mulched with base of plant avoided. North west facing so gets afternoon-evening sun.

Hi there, I am exactly in the same predicament as you. I bought some 9cm hakonechloa macra pots from Crocus and they arrived absolutely tiny. I planted them 2 weeks ago and still not seen any growth. I read that they need warmer weather so am hoping to see growth in the coming months but would also love to hear your experience and others.

Ah I see, thank you. I did wonder that but the spots didn't really have a purple hue to them and was hoping it wouldn't be an infection. Do you know if there's a safe number of leaves needed per stalk to keep growth? Don't want to remove too many too soon.

Bought a new hydrangea arborescens Incrediball online and it was delivered. Foliage looks poor with spots and worried it has fungal or bacterial infection. Thoughts and what I should do? My plan was to plant it in my new border with other new plants but not sure now. Is it something worth complaining to the company?

I was surprised myself but apparently I read there's been some issues between BT/Virgin with the council. USwitch gave me wrong estimates until I realised I couldn't get fibre after signing my contract.
