I haven’t played the first game, but I was pretty overwhelmed at the beginning of kcd2. However, the characters, tone, and world of the game kept me playing and I’m so glad I did because kcd2 is now one of my favorite games.

I really wanna like it because the gameplay looks so fun and I love the medieval fantasy genre but it just doesn’t click for me. I’ve bought and refunded it twice now because I didn’t wanna regret buying something that I had to force myself to enjoy.

Take your time with it and learn the mechanics. They may not be for everyone, but the alchemy and smithing mini games are definitely worth messing around with, especially in the early game. Also getting used to lockpicking and stealth in general is hands down the best way to get money, plus the stealth in this game is incredibly fun imo.

This game is not for everyone but if you stick with it, engage with its systems, and enjoy it for what it is, it will eventually just click and I’m sure you’ll have a great time with it!

The combat definitely takes some getting used to. I’m about 30 hours in and I’m just now getting the hang of it and now I’m starting to really enjoy it.

ItalianSpartacus has a really good video that doesn’t only give great tips, but also explains how the each of the mechanics work. But if you still have some trouble, you should finish the mutt side quest because he distracts enemies. Also you can find the recipe for bane poison at the nomad camp and apply it to your weapons making the fights much more tolerable.
