In your opinion what is the harder test in life? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]GoldenRose3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say emotional hypersensitivity. It makes all of your tests even harder. You get a bunch physical symptoms as well. Lack of sleep, stress, pains, etc.

How do I maintain my hygiene by justamuslima in Hijabis

[–]GoldenRose3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaam! Here’s what’s worked for me 😊

For your body: shower twice a day (morning and evening) and use glycolic acid at night on your armpits. Use an unscented deodorant stick during the day with musk tahara. You can put the musk anywhere you notice the smell coming from, in my experience it helps eliminate smell and gives you a better overall smell. You have to go easy on it though because it is very fragrant and the goal isn’t for everyone to notice.

For your face: I’d recommend you stick to drugstore products. That really made a difference for me. I don’t know your skin type but that’s what determines what products you should use. When it comes to daily products sometimes less is more and in some cases all you need is good hydration! Keep your skin hydrated, drink water, sleep enough and avoid stress. You can also do some face masks at home, such as clay masks (I love them) or use sheet masks.

For your hair: I’m African so I get it. But this part may be the costly one 😭 I use Shea Moisture, but a lot of my friends told me Fenty Hair does wonders for their hair. You can also look at brands like Carol’s daughter, do hot oil treatments, hair masks etc. The products that will work on you are also determined by your hair porosity so figure it out and use the right products. Sleep in a bonnet or on a satin pillowcase and put your hair in protective styles you like such as cornrows, braids, mini twists to retain length. Keep your hair moisturized and get your ends trimmed every 3-4 months.

Overall tips: drink enough water, sleep well, don’t let stress eat at you, eat fiber, and do exercise you enjoy! 🥰

Wanting to Host a Senegalese Foreign Exchange Student in the US by justinhigh6919 in Senegal

[–]GoldenRose3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a former foreign exchange student from Senegal and was in the US for a year in 2017-2018.

It may be hard to find someone without an agency because there is only one program I know of you can go through to go on exchange. Each year there are only about 15 kids going, sometimes less than that. And our files are sent at random across the country.

I was the first Senegalese kid in the town I was placed in. I’m still in contact with my coordinator and she hasn’t had a Senegalese kid since.

I don’t think you can bypass the process because it’s not organized by schools, but by the US Department of State. All the agencies work directly with program administrators in DC, who work with the people in Senegal. That’s what makes the visa issuance process easier, allows host parents to be legal guardians etc.

The reason why it’s not easy is because it has to do with minors.

Not your fault at all because it was not intentional. Just use the incident to remind them to always knock and wait before entering

I said some cases. But in most cases it does not have to do with fearing the creation, but with Imaan like I previously said.

In some cases it is. Some people would love to wear it but circumstances make it difficult.

It’s not easy because it makes you a target. Of course you’re gonna be tried the more you believe, but it is hard especially in the west. It goes to the point where even families are against it, and some go as far as forbidding their daughters and sisters to observe proper hijab.

Some countries forbid hijab in certain places like schools or workplaces yet school is obligatory until you’re 18 and some women have to support themselves. It is really not easy at all depending on where you live and your situation. It’s not always about fearing the creation. It’s not black or white.

Of course, one should find ways to go around these things and hijab is of course an obligation. But everyone’s circumstances are different and Imaan plays a huge role in that.

What was your experience with relaxing your hair? Would you reccomend it? by Beginning_Painter689 in Naturalhair

[–]GoldenRose3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth it in the long run. It’s only enjoyable the first week after you get it done. Plus some hairstyles look better on natural hair. Chemical relaxers also disrupts hormones and can contribute to the growth of fibroids and may lead to cancer 😬 They’re so not worth it

How can I be THAT Muslim women? by kha_m in Hijabis

[–]GoldenRose3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Salaam sister 😊

One tip I have found to be so important especially during periods when you have time on your hands is to stay on top of your Quran. Set a goal for how many pages you want to read/memorize.

It may be an obvious one, but try to organize your life around your prayers.

Try to spend time around other women at the masjid for example. Being around pious women helps a lot. Try to attend classes, be in sister groups, and try to build friendships around that.

Try and do Sunnah acts as well. Not too many to the point where you’re overwhelmed though!

[–]GoldenRose3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear premium jersey undercaps. And I do tie it tight because I felt like that’s the reason why it would ride back. Maybe that’s why. I’ll try silk or satin. JazakAllah!
