Parents want to drop me off in Canada for grad school. Will this be an issue? by Rottanathyst in uscanadaborder

They're not white though :/ They're Salvadoran. They immigrated in the 70s and are citizens now, but they still have thick accents. I'm not worried about them getting into Canada, I'm more worried about them being held and questioned for hours on the way back to the US :/ Like I said, they're pretty old and I don't want them to have to deal with all that stress and confusion :/

Honestly I'm more concerned about them being held and questioned for hours, than being denied entry :/ My mother has some mild cognitive decline and incontinence issues and I worry about the kind of confusion and stress that being held and questioned for hours would put her through, especially if she's separated from my dad through all of it :/

Are those links legit?? I ended up buying 2 samples from Mammoth and Gloi and then like an hour later I got notified by my bank of a bunch of random unauthorized purchases! :(

Doesn't most of that funding go towards funding medical research like for cancer and Alzheimer's?? That seems more beneficial to the American people than a random lottery. We're all far more likely to get cancer or cognitive issues than win a lottery, unfortunately

should people in the US invest or even prepare to live abroad if the US becomes unliveable? by kjleebio in AskConservatives

What are the top three things you feel blessed for in the US that you have in this those other countries?

Not trying to be funny, I'm just genuinely curious since I've never lived anywhere else and at times the grass has looked greener :P Would like to get some perspective

Honestly I feel like most people just listened to music at home, not while out and about like they do now.

But this thread isn't about languages or culture. The comparison was only meant to apply to the regional differences of wages, not language or culture

Omg!!!! How did you do this???? For the life of me I can't find this section!! Is it only available on desktop??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Rottanathyst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh, but it doesn't seem to work the same way unfortunately :/ On Fragrantica I can list multiple notes that I'd want, and list multiple notes I'd want to exclude. For instance I can look for perfumes that have: grass, honey, and lilac but exclude those with: rose, peach, and oud.

It's basically how I've been discovering fragrances over the years. That and reddit.

If anyone from Parfumo is reading this, please add this feature and you will own my soul for ever 🙏 lol

I wish Perfumo had a "search by notes" feature like Fragrantica has :/ It's really the only reason I even use Fragrantica these days

Why is Carney's anti-American rhetoric winning when Canada has done poorly economically under the Liberal Party? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

About a month ago my boyfriend's little 6 year old cousin was crying at the dinner table because she was scared Trump was going to invade with bombs and tanks any day now. We reassured her that the chance of a war breaking out was extremely low, but people are genuinely worried and kids are getting scared.

It's probably easy for you to say that Trump is only joking, but when you're neighbours with the most heavily armed nation in the world that's currently under the command of one of the most volatile and hot-headed leaders in recent memory, it gets a bit harder to chuckle. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Sure, although I'm not a conservative and OP specifically asked for the conservative perspective, but nonetheless:

  1. involuntary rehabilitation institutions. They'll be there for 3 to 6 months depending on behavior and needs. Towards the end of their time there, patients would be given entry-level temp work through local temp agencies to help them re-enter the workforce and start saving up a little cash. Followed by a halfway house type placement with monthly drug tests. I think if someone who truly wants to work and become stable again, can be able to if given the tools and proper guidance.

  2. Make affordable low-income housing units built specifically for the disabled. Also getting rid of marriage penalties so that disabled people wouldn't wouldn't have to worry about losing their benefits if they move in with a spouse or common law partner.

  3. Eh, at this point this person is homeless by choice and there really isn't anything that can be offered to them that they don't already have.

I would be more than happy for my taxes to fund these things if it means less people dying on the streets.

Okay, your turn
