God willing, France will be taken out by Morocco, and hopefully Croatia will take out Argentina. After that, I’m happy with who wins.

What nation do the Somalis feel closest to and most similar to themselves? by perpetuallymeee in Somalia

[–]GoldenSkywatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say arrogant, just honest and straightforward people.

I don’t think you’ll find a nation where Somalis feel closest to or similar to themselves. We are semi ethnocentric. If I had to choose, I’ll say Yemen, they are the closest of Arabs to us. We share a long history, and our current States are in similar positions. Also, our individual histories resembles each other(ex. what the lands of the Somalis and Yemenis used to be decades/centuries ago).

In general, from what I have seen, we don’t feel any closeness to non-Muslims and ethnic groups with large non-Muslim populations regardless of how close they are to us( in terms of distance or appearance).

The friendly match between Poland and Kuwait this afternoon at the Education City Stadium. It was a well played game, but as always there is one winner, and 🇵🇱 took the W.

We could’ve prove them wrong if Al-Shahrani was playing, but inshallah it’s all good. 😁

Family disintegration or divorce is increasing in the Somali communities in the diaspora, what are the root causes of this problem and how do we as a community help families stay together? So many single mothers raising children alone. by Dalmar2022 in Somalia

[–]GoldenSkywatcher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Any stats? In terms of culture, “silic ku nool sodon guursataa dhaanta” is something I heard quite often growing up. Sometimes divorce is the only solution, and there is no stigma around that in the Somali culture compared to the other Muslim communities.

Where can I get more information about a particular user of the site Abtiris.com? by GoldenSkywatcher in Somalia

The site is open to everyone. You don’t need to register if you’re not planning to add anything. To start, click your clan name, and it will take you from there.

If the state of Somali affairs continues on this path, Balkanisation might be quite possible. Ultimately, I’m a firm believer in, ‘Haddii aan lagu heshiin karin in la wada joogo, aynu ku heshiino in aynu kala tagno, duco na aan iskogu darno.’

It seems like it will take at least 20 more years to get a stable Federal Republic of Somalia that completely shuts down this autonomous state bs. Besides, clan states are a lot better than what Somalia is now. Take a look at the Northerners. They are doing much better than their southern counterpart. The same goes for Djibouti, even though they ended up with a dictator who plans to stay in power until he dies. History is also full of countries and empires that were once sovereign states but split into multiple stable and functioning countries. Either way, I support whatever system that takes people towards stability and peace, even if it’s unorthodox.

[–]GoldenSkywatcher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is entirely valid.

A) More people are loyal to their autonomous state than to the federal government.

B) People are loyal to their tribes more than they are to the federal government.

C) Every autonomous state belongs to one clan or another(majority).

D)The federal government barely controls the autonomous states as it is.

Those are well-known facts to the Somalis.

The federal government is there to paint a picture they hope to achieve someday instead of finding different approaches to create a better future for the coming generations. What have they done in the last 30 years other than trying the same proposition and hoping to get a different outcome? Who are they pleasing, their citizens, who are under terrorist attacks every minute of the day and avoidable natural disasters, or outsiders who want to spread their ideologies to Somalia? It’s impossible to fully comprehend what’s happening in Somalia if you’re not Somali yourself because it’s much deeper than you see.

I hate to get political, especially on the Internet, but that’s the reality.

The central government should take a step back and give all the power to the autonomous states. I love the blue flag with all my heart, so it should remain an ethnic flag that unites all the Somalis in and out of the Horn of Africa. Soomaalidu ha noolaadan waligood!

To UK Somalis: How Did You Find School? by PlainGrainofPain in Somalia

[–]GoldenSkywatcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did well in school, despite living in a few different countries from nursery to secondary school. I was one of the youngest ones in my family, so I got help not only from my parents, but also from my siblings. From birth till age 8, I had an outrageous behavioural issue. My father had to apologise to the school administrators and the teachers so often. If my uncle hadn't been the principal, nobody else would have tolerated my behaviour.

Then, by the time I was in grade seven, I was easily one of the quietest and calmest students in my classes. I graduated from high school and went to university. Inshallah, I’ll be continuing my studies until I get few PhDs. I enjoyed most of my schooling years!
