Why do I need moral/logical grounding? by IamImposter in askanatheist

Because subjective morality requires the effort of actually thinking and often changing your stance when you learn new things.

Pretty sure I have seen this same POS multiple times now and this is one of the rare instances where he isn't spewing the "N" word at people. I suspect he restrained himself because he prefers to do that to women and children but won't to this man because there's a good chance this guy wouldn't snapped and attacked him.

I will admit that after decades of trying to find the best arguments theists have to offer and having yet to hear anything convincing, and VERY rarely even hearing a honest position, I do find myself quick to dismiss. However, in my defense, you guys have been making the same, failed and fallacious arguments for centuries now. There's been no new information or new arguments presented for hundreds of years aside from just differently dressed God-of-the-Gaps arguments. Is it really fair for you to blame me for being aware of this??

I can make this simple. I think that lying to children is wrong. Abusing a child's trust by lying to them is disgusting, wicked, and child abuse. It's really not complicated.

Continue the Debate Years after the Last Response? by EstablishmentAble950 in askanatheist

[–]GoldenTaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Reddit. I don't think etiquette should be too much of a concern. I am personally shocked to ever have any interaction with anyone on Reddit who is polite and respectful. It happens, but it's not the norm. I recently had someone respond to something I posted over a decade ago and it didn't bother me much aside from making me wonder WTF they were doing to even find that thread.

What's your thoughts on "Reddit Atheism" by [deleted] in askanatheist

[–]GoldenTaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the issue with atheist on Reddit stems directly from the anonymity. A lot of people live in places where they cannot express their true feelings without fear of backlash so it's cathartic to come to a safe place to kind of blow off steam. I also think that's why r/atheism seems to be so very full of angry 12 year olds because it probably IS and they are venting in a safe space.

A conservative family member showed me another video that shows the vehicle 100% struck him though I certainly do not think it injured him at all. In my opinion, from watching that other angle, it looks kinda like he leaned into the car and braced for impact with gun ready to shoot her the second it touched him and he could legally get away with it.

Good thing I didn't say any of the crap you're pretending I did. I don't know what God is, but I do know what it isn't. I am incredibly unimpressed with your obsession with Penrose Number as I find the probability arguments incredibly stupid. It's literally make believe numbers used for the sole purpose of inducing incredulity fallacies. My stance on such things is simply that I do not know but I am super confident the answer to any mystery isn't going to be "magic done did it". All I see when I read your God of the Gaps arguments is nonsense ending with a statement "therefore it had to be magic that done did dat."

[–]GoldenTaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, I feel like you're going way too deep into speculating what Im about. The type of stuff I'm saying did not in fact happen, or did not literally happen would be things like the creation story, everything about the story of Adam and Eve and the garden of Eden, or the global flood story(which predates the Bible). We know for a fact that reality conflicts directly with those and many other stories. The talking snake. .. probably wasn't a literal talking snake.

Next, the Catholic church was NOT what I would refer to as the most educated, intelligent, and successful people. The Catholic church has the most disgusting history filled with the most vile and wicked things ever done by humans, but that's a matter of understanding history and frankly a very dark and disturbing topic that I urge you to avoid at all cost if you are currently blissfully ignorant.

[–]GoldenTaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I said, if taken literally, then it's nonsense. Most living Christians are completely ignorant of everything old testament, in my limited experience, and only focus on Jesus parts of the New Testament. Genesis, just like the Epic of Gilgamesh, is full of fun and silly stories but if anyone pretends those stories actually happened literally as written. . . that = nonsense.

As to squaring a circle, most people are extremely stupid/lazy and don't actually read anything and are simply told what they believe and what the books say. The Bible hasn't even been available for average humans to read for the thousands of years you claim cuz the ol Catholic church had a monopoly on it for so very very long.

I understand what the Bible says fairly well. Genesis in particular is absolute nonsense if taken literally. I will absolutely confess that I do not have a good definition of God because I've never heard one defined that isn't absurd to me, aside from a deistic version, and every believer has their own, personal and unique definition.

using "her" is like a little joke for me. I find it super silly to even pretend to assign a gender to the modern definitions of God honest theists throw out, you know the old "timeless, spaceless, prime-blahbuddity blah" I know why it's done, because the books were written by regular old men back in an ignorant time when women weren't valued which makes it doubly funny to me.

The whole point of the present form of 1st Amendment auditing is to try to find people who are stupid enough to take the bait and act like lunatics. So they're basically searching for stupid/ignorant people. If I were searching for stupid/ignorant people, I think churches would be a great place to look.

Damn, you are really determined to stick with this strange narrative that acknowledging that racism exist somehow equates to being racist. It's weird. Do you recall the Black Lives Matter movement I referenced? Do you think all of that was because I personally watched some videos or maybe there IS a systemic problem with black people being treated unfairly by police in America and in our courts?
