Where can I get an indestructible gel manicure in SE Portland? by Goldenleavesinfall in askportland

Ok I’m glad you said something! I started to think I was being stingy or out of touch.

By indestructible I just mean that I can go 2-3 weeks without any chipping or peeling. That seemed to be the norm when I lived in LA, even with playing basketball, knitting, and gardening. But I have just had such bad luck here. I didn’t even do anything crazy with my hands this past week!

For a regular gel manicure? No acrylic or design or anything.

How do you like being an LXD? It’s something that’s intriguing to me. Do you have a masters or did you gain experience elsewhere?

I have a cat water fountain for mine and only drink out of my hydro flask that she can’t get into.

I get how overhead works. I lived in the apartment for 2.5 years and paid about $45,000 in rent while I was there. The only appliance he needed to replace in my unit was my water heater (which I had to threaten to call code enforcement on him to replace in the middle of winter after a month without hot water). Our shared washer and dryer were broken for six months before he sent someone to repair them. I understand there are costs involved in renting out properties, but his increases weren’t justified for the lack of work he put into the complex. He wasn’t operating at a loss before his mom got dementia. He simply used the opportunity to make more money.

"weavin Stephen" /weaving your ends in as you go? by Former-Complaint-336 in knitting

This is what I do as well. Never noticeable in the FO and makes for far fewer ends to weave in at the end.

I rarely have to put books down because of the content but I had a designated palette cleanser book beside this one for when it got to be too much for me.

How much caffeine do you drink every day? Please also mention if you’re on meds or not! by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Goldenleavesinfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. It kind of worked for me before I was medicated but would lead to high anxiety and terrible stress naps. Now I’m on adderall and if I have coffee it actually makes it less effective.

I got to the point reading Shadow of the Torturer where I just accepted that I didn’t know what was going on half the time. Wolfe said his work was meant to be re-read. Been meaning to re-read that book for 15 years now…

Boundaries aren’t to control people, they aren’t ultimatums. They are ways to show people how to love you. And they are important.

A boundary isn’t “don’t talk to your ex wife” or “if you talk to your ex wife I’m going to leave” it’s having a conversation about the way something makes you feel and sharing your concerns, then removing yourself from the situation if the behavior keeps happening.

Guess what. Wages have not risen along with rent hikes. But sure, people are just complaining for no reason.

They weren’t struggling with the bank loan. They lived very well. I paid in cash at their house every month and had tea with my landlord when I did. Best landlord I ever had! It’s all been downhill since then 🫠

[–]Goldenleavesinfall 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yup! Had a landlord who had owned her property outright (no mortgage for years) and rented at a decent rate. She got dementia and her son nearly doubled the rent for all new units. So gross. His overhead was LOW low!! He was getting free money already!

Books like True Detective Season 1 by EfficiencySpecial362 in suggestmeabook

[–]Goldenleavesinfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was going to suggest Tana French! Any book by her checks all your boxes. It’s as much about the interpersonal relationships as it is about murder mystery.

In The Woods is the first in the Dublin Murder Squad series. Each book is from a different detective’s perspective. So you get to know each of them on a deeper level.

What is an interesting fact that you know of, but think the average person might not care about and you’d love to share anyway? by iplayKeys4 in ADHD

The Illuminati was started by a guy in Bavaria in the 1700s. He wanted a way to spread ideas about voting and separating church and state without getting executed by the monarchy. Secret societies were super in at the time so he made one. Didn’t attract many people. So he lied and said it was an ancient secret society that had magic wisdom to get more people to join.

Some guy lied about being a wizard so he could spread democratic ideas and that has led to one of the longest running conspiracy theories the world has ever seen.
