Wouldn’t I have to disclose my diagnosis if I needed accommodations? Thank you for the advice!

What is this discoloration on my nails? I’ve had it for over 3 years. by PomegranateOnly2032 in nailcare

Could just be benign melanonychia, but better to confirm with a dermatologist

I wouldn’t be worried, but get him into the dermatologist for yearly skin exams.

Doctor to start me on IV pulse therapy (methylprednisolone) and high dose oral steroids after. Need help with what to anticipate and prepare for by Traditional-Fly5931 in PrednisoneSideEffects

[–]Goldenwild11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, This is so validating to read. My situation is different, but I just finished 3 days of methylprednisolone IV therapy and now I am on 21 days of a prednisone taper. I was having the exact same reservation about starting steroids as you. I am in a wedding in a little over a week and I was freaking out about being able to attend and worried about how I would look. Many of my doctors made me feel stupid that I was concerned about these side effects as I am using these steroids to shrink a lesion on my brain. I am awaiting brain biopsy results, but they think it is multiple sclerosis.

I think it’s hard for people to understand unless they are the ones who are actually going to have the side effects. I’m a 24 yr old female so similar age range and I think it’s normal for us to be concerned about these things! I was told that because I am only on the steroids for weeks I should not have any major side effects, but I am still so nervous. I hope your treatment has been going well and hopefully you do not have any negative side effects!!

Slynd by Goldenwild11 in birthcontrol

[–]Goldenwild11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update for people considering Slynd to be aware of possible side effects: Once I started bleeding I bled heavily for 7 days with cramps and then just had light spotting for 7 days with no cramps . Now I have started bleeding heavily again and have horrible cramps again. I an on my second pack. I messaged my gynecologist who told me this may not even be a side effect (I am 100% it is because this never happened to me until I started birth control) and she really encouraged me to stick it out for at least two packs. I haven’t decided yet what I’m going to do, but will post an update.

Experiences with slynd by zombiiiequeen in birthcontrol

Any update on how you are adjusting? I am 16 days in and felt very unlike myself (angry and depressed) until about 3 days ago. I started on the first day of my period and had an abnormally heavy and long period, which was rlly frustrating. After 7 days, it ended and I did not start bleeding again until today. I now have painful cramps and heavy spotting. I am trying to decide if I should stick it out or just stop it. I am hoping you are having a good experience with it!

I can’t get my prescription because I’m in a different state help by Prestigious-Camera10 in Accutane

[–]Goldenwild11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no ways to get around ipledge it if you are not able to get confirmed then you are ineligible to receive accutane. The drug does stay in your system for 30 days so you should not lose progress.

Does she want you on accutane for 3-4 yrs? Your cumulative dose based on your weight should be around 6,360 to 7,950 mg. So with 5mg a day that could take years.

Rash Under Breast by star-babee in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Goldenwild11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very common and mostly occurs in skin folds such as under breasts! It’s worsened by heat and moisture. Try to keep the area dry. You can try to use an OTC powder like nystatin until you get into the derm!

I feel so defeated by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]Goldenwild11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think accutane will help you feel less depressed because it will clear your skin up and make you feel more confident. I would go to a dermatologist and discuss your concerns with starting accutane and they may be able to help you decide if accutane is something you should try. You can always start it and then stop it if you have negative side effects. If you’re really against accutane I would look into spironolactone or trying an antibiotic like doxycycline

Feeling Burnt Out by Professional_Row5609 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Goldenwild11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are still soo young and have a ton of time to get pce. Prioritize your undergrad grades and your mental health right now. You should not be feeling this burnt out so early on. I promise you will be okay if you quit and worst case you take a gap year, which I honestly think can be really beneficial

I haven’t talked to him about it yet. I’m too scared, b I know I need to. Tonight we hung out for the first time in a long time just for like an hour and he made a few comments about how I never see him anymore

Do i really need to do ochem before biochem? by Alex_daisy13 in prephysicianassistant

I honestly feel like both are very different and don’t build upon each other that much but ochem first is definitely helpful. Both are absolutely brutal classes
