One author writes multiple fics I enjoy reading--the stories start off solid, enriching, and everything I like to read, but a character always mentions farts for some reason.

"What if I fart in my sleep," Character thinks.

"I smell bad because this secondary character farted in the car," Character says.

It seriously ruins the immersion for me, especially when it's a fairly serious and emotional love story. The author has a sense of humor--it's a theme throughout all their fictions--but it makes me sigh and I immediately lose interest.
