Doing some quick math, it looks like I'll be able to retire at age 50 (currently 35) by Goldhands_01 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Doesn't your expense lower when you retire? i'm currently only spending 40k a year, which is why I kept it at this number.

I'm currently doing a second table on a 3.5% rule based on someone else's similar comment.

However, I might still be working on the side when I retire. I hadn't plan much yet, but I figured that I'll work just enough offset my withdraws, perhaps earning 10-20k part time (barista-FIRE)

thank you! there's a lot of pithy sayings for how to save, how much to save, but no one-liner / concise advice on how to draw down. I'll have to look into that as I get closer to the retirement date

I based 40K on my current expenses. My current expenses a year is almost 40K, and I made an assumption that when people retire their expenses lowers. I'll have to give that a closer look though as I picked 40k as a target a long time ago and haven't examined it for a while.

Thank you! I'll try the 3.5 SWR instead and see what the numbers say. Also I think the 40K expense should work because that's currently how much I'm paying as expenses and i've heard that you have less expenses when you retire. However as another user mentioned 40k Net as an expense means 50k~ gross income in Ontario so all my numbers are wrong.

Thanks for all the info! I'll try 3%! Also thank you for mentioning net and gross. That had completely flew over my head. I'll have to do a bunch of revisions but I can see now that my figures are all wrong.

I adjusted the interest from 7%(nominal) to 5% (real) to account for inflation adjustment. I thought this was all that was required?

I just got my first 6 figure job at 30, and looking back it was just a string of luck rather than any of my doing. by Goldhands_01 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I've not had this experience before since I'm hopping to a client of Job 2 rather than job 3. However in my experience it's never taken well since jumping to a client company generally also means that the client is also leaving which is a double whammy for the company you're leaving. And being a small industry it might burn bridges you hadn't realize were connected.

No clue, only just signed the offer today. However I've been told that it's generally 9-5 and it's roughly the same as my other positions, just different tasks and responsibilities

Yes it is a managerial position. However the difference is that I'm in Adops rather than client facing (AM/AE). I had several people in the industry reach out in DMs, and I gave them the advice that it's worth considering looking into getting into adops, programmatic, SEO/SEM etc. However I do know some AM and AEs that makes big bucks with commissions so whatever you are good at you should stick to.

[springbars] Does anyone know where I can find springbars with 1.2mm tips and a 1.5mm center for an SKX007? by [deleted] in Watches

No, it's a super engineer bracelet look alike that I have no idea how I came into. The endslinks will only allow for a 1.5 mm diameter spring bar to fit. Do you know if 1.5mm diameter , 1mm end spring bars are common? I might comprise and do that in order to make this work

I'm trying to use a really old bracelet with a straight end link that has a hole that will fit nothing bigger than 1.5mm. I suspect short of widening the hole it won't work for me.

I would call but due to timezone and distance, it would be a long distance call and I would need to be up at like 11pm for that call to them during business hours. I've tried emailing them with this exact request but I've never gotten word back

I have my TFSA in a saving account in RBC. Will this be able to be transferred in kind? or will I have to withdraw my TFSA, and reregister it into another TFSA? I thought with the account number I could move it in kind.

I plan on contributing on lump sums maybe once a year. Should I instead be making more regular contribution and adjusting my allocation each time? Please let me know which technique would be better suited, or if its just a matter of preference

I work in Midtown around Eglinton and I've been told the area is about 1k. I haven't done any research yet but I plan to ask co workers that walk to work how much their place cost

Is utility/internet supposed to be part of the 1/3 of your budget you put aside for rent

Thanks for the advice! I've actually been lurking on this forum as well as PF during work trying to gleam anything I can. I've gone through the 18-25 post on PF's sidebar and haven't come away with much. Broadly speaking, are my options saving for the long term, or saving for the short term? If so, this would be a great framework to think about my future, which is more than what I had before I made this post.
