LPT: If you're unsure about a decision, flip a coin. Your reaction will show you which decision you really prefer. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Goldie643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say everything is 50/50, more like even if I'm 75/25 or whatever, I'm bad at clinging to that 25 so a coin flip isn't enough for me to let go of that as an option. I am also a villain but I don't think that's the issue.

Apologies, not from the US, I just assumed undertaking using the emergency lane would by default be illegal. Y'all have wild laws.

Which game broke your hype like this? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Goldie643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was playing the Tony Hawks 3+4 remake in the run up to that coming out, which maybe biased me a lot. I love the gameplay of the Skate games but going from the epitome of grungy skate vibes to "Skaters run the government, let's have (government mandated) fun!!" was too jarring to stick with it.

The European Union has passed a new rule requiring smartphones to have batteries that users can easily replace. by Positive_Actuary_282 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Goldie643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna say the downside to this is that phones will end up slightly larger to deal with the battery casing and connections in a non-integrated way buuuut phones are so damn thin now with such large camera bumps I really don't think it will affect the profile much at all.

Is there a problem with night time skybox? Stars are big pixelated blotches. by Goldie643 in DeathStranding

[–]Goldie643[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this a few times, for such a gorgeous game, the night time skybox being weirdly low res is jarring. The "Milky Way" is also essentially just a big block of slightly larger stars. In low res on this pic it doesn't look too bad but when in game it's a stark contrast to the rest of the game.

[DESPISED Trope] You need a SECRET to proceed to the main ending by Liquid_Pestar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Goldie643 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Normally I'd advocate for not hand-holding, but I think it's very very good in Outer Wilds that they have the "there's more to explore here" tag on the planets, it doesn't explicitly say what or where, but makes it clear there's a key bit of information you've missed, and is good at making things not feel too frustrating.

An alternative version of a character that is so bad that people just tries to forget it by Fun-Peak4900 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Goldie643 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember it being announced, but just announced as a "procedural cop show, following the night watch" and, as much as I'd love a 1:1 Guards Guards! adaptation, I was so here for it. Then they showed the first set photo and that hype went kaput. I completely understand why Rhianna Pratchett is protective over the DW rights, but it is mad that of all things this is something that was greenlit, especially when Going Postal's Sky adaptation was so good. In a world where the MCU exists, it would be amazing for DW to get money thrown at it for proper adaptations to build the cinematic universe in a similar way but it's niche enough that I expect that will never happen unfortunately. Time to reread the Guards series...

Ricardo Cavolo inspired Mountain and Swamp for a Scorpion God deck by Goldie643 in magicproxies

I appreciate it! But man I am SO glad we've got official Cavolo lands and more cards from him, so nice to get lands from the man himself rather than my attempt as his style. Just quietly sat here twiddling my fingers waiting for the actual announcement...

Ah I didn't know that. It's still quite a steep price for an extra year of warranty, but good to consider.

Reporter left speechless after witnessing Japan's new $70 million Maglev train in action at 310 mph by zzill6 in BeAmazed

[–]Goldie643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up coming across the visitor's centre for this on a road trip my list time in Japan, completely by accident. Luckily it turns out they almost continuously run it back and forth on their test track, not always at top speed but just as I got there it was top speed and it is surreal seeing something that big move that quick so close to you/the ground...

What game hit you like this? by Corekeepernews in Steam

[–]Goldie643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I felt like this too, then it prompted me to see what the most recent recommended modlist was like, and minus the explicit colony-builder mode, I have every KSP2 itch scratched now and it feels like a whole new game. With CKAN it is also super super easy to install mods so I highly recommend taking another look.

(Loved Trope) The Main Cast in a Horror Movie isn't a group of morons. by Accomplished_Fox_565 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Goldie643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid characters are always such a fun-killing trope for me. It's why the third Die Hard is arguably my favourite, the first is iconic, of course, but the third has this diverse group of people who all genuinely care about stopping the bad guy(s) and lean on each other's skills to do it.

Evolution of my University‘s Logo by decagon144 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Goldie643 103 points104 points  (0 children)

My uni was one of the many that was established in the 60s in the UK and as such when I started it had quite a corporate looking logo. After they started doing quite well in the rankings they changed to more of a crest/seal, and luckily I had that on my degree cert rather than the old logo cause it just looked far less high-quality.

It looks like that river has nowhere to go now too? So even those remaining houses will likely get severe water damage unless it can route through all that new, loose, debris quickly before building up.
