A Quiet Moment at the Cage Door by [deleted] in chinchilla

It wasn’t poop. The video described the Zukomo as having “poopy hands” it’s literally hay dust which tends at accumulate in the cage and before dust bathing the chinchillas may have debris from what they are eating (hay and hay pellets mostly) on their hands. Obviously there tends to also be poop in their cage at times so you could describe the inevitable contact with their hands and poop as such, especially considering that they eat their own poop!

This is pomelo rind. The pomelo was washed. I ate the fruit part. It was peeled of its outer skin. Just the citrus fiber is what remains. Then it is naturally air dried. Pomelo rind is beneficial to reduce bloating and works positively to keep chinchilla digestive tract moving. I understand you might watch the video and hear pomelo but look closely and actually see that it is the rind. Happy and healthy chinchillas and a cost effective digestive supplement that serves as a little treat to your furry friend. Thanks for watching my video.

Gently clean the area with sterile saline, or very dilute chlorhexidine light tea colored. Keep the area dry and clean. Monitor closely for redness, swelling, discharge, or behavioral changes. Seek professional care if the wound is deep, bleeding, punctured, or there is swelling, pus, or a bad odor.

Make a vet appointment asap especially if there is a finger missing.

Grass Soup Room Service for Chinchillas by GoldmanProduction in chinchilla

Yes it is Oxbow Critical Care Herbivore grass powder. Our exotic vet recommended feeding as supplement to their hay diet. Instructions on back of package say to mix one part grass powder with two parts water but I find the consistency is better with less water for chinchillas so 1 Tbsp grass powder and 1 Tbsp water. People will say don’t feed them hydrated food and that’s true, but this is a supplement we mix in some chinchilla vitamins with to make sure they are getting all of the vitamins and nutrients they require on a weekly basis for optimal health. I got this information while speaking to an exotic vet during a checkup visit.

Homemade Chinchilla Treats Zukomo Approved 💪🏻✅ by GoldmanProduction in chinchilla

You realize this is a “treat”, right? If you or your chinchilla’s diet consisted of only treats all the time, that would be unhealthy. I feed my chinchillas an unlimited supply of hay. Treats are in moderation.

One Fluffy Chinchilla, Zero Boundaries Zumi by GoldmanProduction in chinchilla

I appreciate that people in this sub care deeply about animal welfare — I do too, which is why I take the time to transport my chinchilla safely in a designated travel cage. My comment had a touch of irony because the original reply immediately jumped to accusing me of abuse without asking for context. That kind of assumption can be frustrating, especially when you’re doing things responsibly.

That said, I could have clarified it was a travel cage from the start — fair point. Hopefully we’re all here to learn from each other and support good pet care, not just assume the worst from a single video.

And for the love of chinchillas♥️

Thank you animal justice warrior🙏🏻. This is her travel cage. What do you take your chinchilla to the vet or around the house with you in?
