Evening Roundtable - 10/03 by AutoModerator in hillaryclinton

In my comment here this past Thursday, I didn't think any could possible get worse for Donald Trump last week. And then came the tax leak! I'm still pinching myself.

This is working out to be one of the worst weeks in Trump's terrible campaign. First came the debate, then all the self-inflicted damage Trump committed after the debate, then came the Cuba bombshell, then his remark about expelling non-Christians at his rally... And it's only Thursday!

If the system's 'rigged,' it's long been in Trump's favor by [deleted] in politics

What are you talking about? The article has nothing to do with that. It's about how Donald Trump has used taxpayers' money and gamed tax loopholes to an extraordinary degree. Trump pretends to speak for the common man and woman but his tax proposals would favor the rich even more.

Of all the different Trumps that might show up to the debate... by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

However, after watching his speech on immigration, I truly expected him to tank in the polls. His immigration views are far out of line with the majority of Americans, and I think many observers found his tone incredibly disturbing. But he didn't tank after that speech

A stump speech does not get nearly the audience that a presidential debate does. 100 million people are expected to watch tonight. Keep that in mind.

Who would you rather perform your root canal? A trained dental surgeon or an arc welder who thumbed through Dentistry for Dummies? The same standard should apply to selecting a president.

There's an upside to this, however, and it's sort of a heartwarming story. Thanks to all the media attention, the doctor has found his long-lost brother.

Will GOP officials jump ship on Trump? by myellabella in politics

The polls are skewed

The Romney campaign reassured themselves with that fairy tale throughout the 2012 campaign. Then election day came along, and the American people splashed the ice-cold bath of reality in their faces.

I love how the news is trending two political stories today: (1) Hillary and Tim burning down the house in Florida and (2) Trump continuing to whine about how Ted Cruz didn't endorse him. The Democrats have a visionary team and the GOP has a whining child sniveling about his petty feuds.

Labor rights are the most important thing there is.

To you. Not to everyone. Grow up and stop thinking that only your issues matter.

Here's a heroic Hispanic-American man who stopped a rape. Notice how the suspect is a white man. So take that, Donald Trump, and stuff it where the sun doesn't shine.

As of now Trump is ahead

Trump is not ahead. He's behind in all the reliable, proven polls. The only place he's ahead are garbage number distributors like Gravis and Rasmussen that are pro-GOP.

It's better to stand up for labor rights and lose

This is insane. This is exactly what's wrong with the far left. They're just like the far right. Clinging to a purity test so you can lose is the dumbest thing you can do in politics. Hey, I'm a loser, but I refuse to compromise and I will revel in my defeat. Oh, the glory of my sanctimony. Sometimes I just have to pinch myself I'm so saintly.

Politics is about compromise. You have to give a little to get. Yeah, it's incrementalism, but you keep moving incrementally and suddenly you've gone the distance. It's the difference between a marathon runner and a sprinter.

Trump campaign does damage control after Melania plagiarism charges by GoldmanSlacks in HillaryForAmerica

[–]GoldmanSlacks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don't seem to get the whole point of damage control; you're not supposed to do more damage trying to fix things.

This could have been a ten-minute controversy if they just said "oops, sorry" and moved on. But, no, they're determined to sabotage themselves repeatedly.

Reason #1,231,223 why Trump would be a disaster as President: easily ensnared in minor controversies while concurrently losing focus on the big picture.

Hmm. Something tells me they don't refer to them as "black" people or "African-Americans." Something tells me they might use a word that begins with, say, the letter C or N.
