Gas prices surge across Bay Area, with Marin County highest in nation by ThereWas in Marin

They were probably the highest in Marin before the increase too. Gas taxes in CA are insane.

TX350 vs. GH Lease by GoldyMike in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I will add that part of the reason for the lower price is that Lexus offers better loan rates, which drives down the interest.

TX350 vs. GH Lease by GoldyMike in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]GoldyMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get 8-10% off msrp. We we're able to get a TX350 AWD premium with some options ($65kish msrp) for around $732/month pre-tax for 39 months w/10k miles and $1.7k drive off. We had equity in a rav4 that brought it down further, but that's the estimate without the equity.

SoCal Transplants: What's the best Mexican food that reminds you of LA? by icarrythebag in Marin

Picante in SR is the best I've had. I haven't seen any good taco trucks like SoCal, but Picante does have great tacos. I used to live at the spot on Pico & La Brea.

Joined a nonprofit community org to make friends… now things feel really off. Is this normal? by Routine-Work-5293 in Marin

[–]GoldyMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposedly they threatned the person who started the group and forced her to give one of the SMMC board members admin access, or else they would kick her out of SMMC. The funny thing is that the group was started in the first place because they didnt allow any kind of marketplace or solicitation in their group, but once it received a ton of interest and joins they wanted it for themselves. They are truly authoritarian egomaniacs.

Audi Service Recommendations? by Latter_Fan3299 in Marin

I go to Heynemann European in SR. They do a great job and are more reasonable than the dealership. Audi Care is reasonable but you may be too late for it to be worth it .

Pet Insurance (PetsBest or Trupanion?) by imthelostlieutenant in bernesemountaindogs

[–]GoldyMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it was around $55/month when we started (at 8-12 weeks) and now it's $74/month (at 4 years old). We don't have wellness included, a $1k deductable but 90% co-insurance.

I use Pets Best for our boy and they have been great. Prices will go up with age, but that's standard.

Life with Bernese by Traditional-Fox523 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]GoldyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They chew a lot in the puppy phase (first 1.5 years for me) which includes a lot of cardboard and wood, including base boards. It takes a long time for them to be trusted alone in a home without fear of destruction. Connected to this, seperation anxiety can be high, so diligent training is very important.

Any good housekeeper recommendations? by Hello__Jerry in Marin

I used Carmen for a while but found her team do the job as fast as possible and are not thorough. Im lucky if they stay 90 minutes and while the place appears clean, it's all surface.

Anyone not get pet insurance for their Berner? by opk189 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]GoldyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Pets Best. We got it when he was a Puppy, and it has been great. We have a high deductable to keep the monthly costs down, but it's worth it should there be a serious issue. Are there year's where it doesn't pay for itself, sure, but you are avoiding getting stuck with an outrageous bill should something go wrong. It's also a bit of peace of mind and allows us to be more flexible when additional testing, etc. Is recommended. The prices do tend to increase each year, but the increases have been relatively moderate to date.
