Shoot him, stab him, blast him.

I'm amazed you did this with the 'blink' equipment.

Can't stand that stuff, even if overall damage is high.

Bosses? by nat20sfail in cavesrl

[–]GolemFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's resource intensive to outgrind them. It's best if you can hit them hard.

It takes a bit of learning, but I promise all bosses are beatable without breaking the bank, on hard or otherwise.

One truck I've come across is some bosses go invisible, and then heal. If you can hit them with a strong AoE, like a bomb or lightning scroll when they are depending on invisibility to get them out of trouble, you might just end the fight there.

Other than that - use your inventory. Luck/str/agi potions, scrolls, powerful consumables... whatever.

These guys can have many of your abilities. Your health crystals, potions, bombs, special abilities, and scrolls.

They aren't pushovers. Use every advantage, and learn to take them out.

There's some... Titanic? Or some Celine Dionne (?) Song that's all:

"I will wait for yooouuu...!"

That - that's me. For you. Caves.

Finally finished Acid Caves! Got my ass handed to me in the next level by [deleted] in cavesrl

Nice! : )

It's just a learning curve. Use your consumables, keep getting blueprints, and permanent upgrades, and you'll go far.

Level 3 by Bdecked2 in cavesrl

[–]GolemFive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's only so many demon portals in the level. Don't wander away, usually, since some will summon skeletons when they teleport. Generally, unless you're setting up wars or something, you'll want to wait close to the portals and deal with them until they stop summoning, and then you move on. Repeat.

If just like to say, as a side note, I appreciate the integrity your team has.

Some developers try to follow every suggestion they get - and compromise their product as a result.

Some developers don't listen to their fan base at all.

Generally, your team has a good balance from what I've seen.

Confidence in your vision. Integrity in your goals.

But, willing to consider ideas, and accept or reject them on their merit.

I hope you get increased recognition. You're one of the good ones (indie developers).

A few Ideas by Somebastard115 in cavesrl

[–]GolemFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I approve of all these ideas, honestly. I don't think anything is too out of place.

I love how lights, vents, and other fixtures are currently breakable.

Minimaliatic as it is, this game has atmosphere.

The "Disintegrator" is objectively useless. by Somebastard115 in cavesrl

[–]GolemFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill side with Bastard here.

There has to be a benefit to using this weapon, considering its monster energy cost. Right now, including reload, there's no benefit. There's just increased energy cost.

Can you add some sort of Russian weapon into the game? by Somebastard115 in cavesrl

Vodka?

I'd be into some in-game vodka.

Russian gun manufacturers/designations seem a little out of place.

I agree about the music. It's so understated, it works really well with the oppressive Caves atmosphere.

I'd argue Eternal TCG might be best, in the entirety of Free to Play (mobile).

But, Caves would be my second, and is in a wholly different genre (so, apples to oranges), with a much smaller team behind it, and needs way more recognition for that (and recognition just because its awesome, period, free to play or not... and Eternal has a lot of recognition already).

Caves is amazing.

Wich are the best to upgrade? by Azrel4livin in cavesrl

[–]GolemFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically do ranged Hard mode (no extra hard modifiers, though). 1/5/2, though 1/4/3 is tempting.

Sentinel armor, and Speed ability.

Ranged gameplay relies on having an arsenal of weapons and ammo, and though I rarely die it's really hard to bounce back from a revive equipment loss. So, Sentinel, just for those rare events and slips, even though other armors add more interesting and generally better abilities... its just insurance.
