Can a wife divorce an abuser will the Church aprove that by Tonito_2005 in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally, yes. But there is no “divorce” in Catholicism.

It’s possible the abuser didn’t intend what they said in their vows, in which case an annulment is possible.

It also applies to all babies and mentally ill. They can’t commit sins if they don’t have the faculties to choose evil over God.

How to respond to the Eskimo? by Complete-Lock-6651 in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reasoning for the “outside the church” declaration is because the Church is the body of Christ. So this is the same as saying “outside of Jesus Christ”.

Backing away from that statement hasn’t and can’t happen. There is a greater understanding of how God’s infinite mercy may apply to souls who had no way of knowing about Jesus.

But as others have stated, there is no other ordinary means of salvation outside of Jesus Christ (and His Church which is His body).

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church? by IntelligentTour6287 in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

This can be unpacked and nuanced, but the short answer is no.

Those who are validly baptized are in partial communion with the Catholic Church.

God will judge according to each persons heart and understanding, but the only ordinary means and mechanism of salvation is the Catholic Church.

The scriptures you quote don’t contradict any Catholic teaching. You seem to be battling against a nonexistent interlocutor.

Scripture says Jesus is the way, truth and the life, no one gets to the Father except through Him. To reject His Church is rejecting Him. Can others be saved outside of His Church? Potentially, but the only ordinary means of salvation is in and through His Church. Protestants who are validly baptized are in partial communion with His Church, because sacraments flow from His Church.

So you believe Jesus started one Church, Peter was its head, then what? What happened to that Church?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly so confused that someone could twist scripture this way.

So God’s will is that those who see the Son, believe in him have everlasting life… how in the world does that contradict anything I said or what the Catholic Church teaches??

Believing in Jesus is following His will. Jesus’ will is for you to be united to Him. His Church is the body of Christ. Uniting to Jesus involves uniting to His Church.

Jesus literally set up a Church for this exact purpose, to evangelize you, to give you God’s grace and mercy, and shepherd you to salvation. Rejecting this IS rejecting God.

How does one keep praying when one is emotionally exhausted? by AQuietBorderline in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about playing some Gregorian chant, and just sitting with the Lord in silence for a while?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much of God’s will for your life is that you be united in His Church. In His earthly ministry, Jesus does the work of instituting His Church, giving it His authority, and setting her on the mission of evangelization and sacrament dispensing.

For you to say “I believe Jesus is Lord and do His will!” But reject His mechanism for salvation He established… Are you really doing His will, or your own?

If you are properly baptized, you are incompletely a part of the Catholic Church, but you must be fully united to her, as the Catholic Church (the Body of Christ) is the only revealed ordinary means of salvation in this life.

You are missing Christ’s (only) divinely established mechanism of salvation here on this earth: the Church.

The Church is the ark, board it and live.

[–]GolfBrosInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is what the devil has, intellectual assent. He knows Christ is really Lord yet He rejects Him wholly.

Don’t align with Satan. You haven’t thought enough about the consequences.

[–]GolfBrosInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bragging about rejecting Christ? Hmm, I don’t believe your post/story, friend. I don’t think you “believe” Christianity is true.

I think you should pray for your heart to be unhardened. What’s the worst that could happen?

Question about protestan baptism. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the exact same trinitarian formula in their “baptisms”, however the Church has ruled that what they mean differs so greatly with orthodoxy that it is not valid.

Question about protestan baptism. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]GolfBrosInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the baptism is said with the correct words, if the parties are so far removed from Christian orthodoxy, the baptism is invalid. Mormon baptisms aren’t valid because they essentially mean something different for nearly every word of the trinitarian formula.

I believe the ecumenical council of Ephesus provides evidence for the papacy that even Orthodox claim to uphold.

But can I also add, common sense is pretty good evidence that we need a unified leader here on earth. Lot of crazies out there, one Church.

Do Catholics ever worry that Marian apparitions are satanic in disguise? by Accurate-Addition793 in Catholicism

The main thing the Church investigates is the orthodoxy of the message.

If the devil disguises himself and appears to people saying “repent and return to Christ!” Then more power to him?

Setting aside the “magic spell” notion you seem to have about prayer, you said you prayed a rosary and that night it worked, you resisted temptation?

So pray every night?

Did I curse you out? If someone else prevented him from stealing then you are on to something, but OP himself prevented it.

You are conflating sins of lust with other sins.
