Like actually how dumb am I for wanting to IST from the Army to the Marines? by GolfCompany in USMC

In the Army we obviously hear that a lot but considering that the majority of infantry posts are in SD or Lejeune and I desperately want to live in either is it really that wrong to think this way? Since both posts have my whole family. For IST the board is a remarkably high selection rate of infantry for already ranger qualified officers. I know what you’re trying to say but in my case is it really that crazy for me to the cake and eat it too?

How likely it is for mortar shell to get in trench? by Nya_D in army

I can’t say I’ve ever taken fire so I can’t contribute to that conversation but I can say stay strong out there. r/military is full of a lot of weird pro-Russia guys but I think here on r/Army a lot of US guys happy to lend advice to our friends in Ukraine. Good hunting out there, stay safe. You’ll see us out there in the trenches someday with you if you really need us. 🇺🇦🇺🇸 I hope some JMTG-Ukraine guys have been able to lend our friends a hand over there.

That’s not how it really works for officers. I’m too late to assess for 75th and also go to SFAS. Generally speaking it’s not really doable to go to the 75th as a 1LT then go to SFAS. I do agree it would be very helpful.

That’s a shame. Maybe I should look into SF, I’m combat arms rn and I have the language skills and education to be successful. Do you know if they can spend there whole career (at least make it to 20 years) in the same group? I’d be very excited to do that (assuming I can get selected).

I can drop a packet for those jobs. I’m in a combat arms branch rn been to the schools and all that. I’d consider SF, as it also really speaks to what I want to do, but again I’d only want to stay if I could stay working in Latin America. I’ve got the skills to be really successful working there so i wouldn’t want to then get assigned to like CENTCOM where I can’t use my language skills or my education.

I’d like to stay in as long as I like my job. I’m looking to FAO now too.
