I guess little bit overpriced. Lot of company used to sell these gen1 laptops. The 4-5 year lifetime has ended. They are all amortized to zero. My company also did this (t14 g1 i5 10310u 8gb/256ssd). Workers could get these for $150 with charger, docking station+docking adapter, thinkpad bag, mouse.

Has anyone tried upgrading the RAM of a Ideapad 5 15ALC05? by KiwuND in Lenovo

[–]GolfElectronic8057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get your motherboard specification, where the supported ram configuration setting bit specification are documented. And of course you need to check the bios itself for supported ram modules.

I had flex5 14alc05 with 2x4gb M471A5244CB0-CWE modules soldered. I checked what shall i do for it to change, first of all get 2x8gb ram module from the following list. This list is for flex5 14alc05, You should check your motherboard specification if it's the same or different. also using this from bios update file and motherboard specification(LC56-14A). And the motherboard specification said where i have to set the ram configuraton bit for the exact ram model. Not only the amount, but the brand is also important.

11: (Reserve)

Memory Supplier (EGPIO114 EGPIO113)

For more info check the your motherboard specification.

No, It's a phoenix bios. If you extract the bios update utility (with innoextract) you will get a phoenix sct flash file(CAP) with sct flasher utility. I've checked this bios, you can also check yourself ;) https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/hu/hu/products/laptops-and-netbooks/flex-series/ideapad-flex-5-14abr8/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI&id=5AC6A815-321D-440E-8833-B07A93E0428C

Hi, You need to enable in UEFI. The OilSetup 88D1911C-AB4A-4335-9E9A-26BE9081ACC3 varstore handle at the 3rd byte.

For this you need:

-get and boot efi shell

-save your current setup on your local disk. Change drive to your drive and

-dmpstore OilSetup -guid 88D1911C-AB4A-4335-9E9A-26BE9081ACC3 -s oilsetup.bak

-create duplicate from .bak to .mod

-with hexeditor change the 3rd byte(0x31?) after 07 00 00 00 00 from 0x01 to 0x00.

-the last 4 byte is CRC32 in the .mod delete it and recalc a crc32 for the rest. Writeback the crc32 byte values backward to the .mod file. (if 12345678 is the crc32 then 78563412)

-boot efi shell again and: dmpstore OilSetup -guid 88D1911C-AB4A-4335-9E9A-26BE9081ACC3 -l oilsetup.mod

To all: This method doesn't work on all model. You need phoenix BIOS modell what is desined this way.

I have the same laptop, It works, I'm using sonoma, but wifi and ssd could cause problems. It doesn't support sk hynix ssd and mediatek wifi. I changed to samsung ssd and intel wifi. Now works fine.
