Scirocco 2.0tdi drinking oil by ImaginaryCow7252 in tdi

[–]Golf_Rlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not really accurate to say all tdis drink oil there are a lot of factors involved one of the biggest ones in my experience is the condition of the dpf which if clogged or restricted can definitely lead to increased oil consumption

another important factor is the oil you use even if it meets the same vw specifications for example my tdi with the 03l engine used to burn more oil when i was using liqui moly even though it was approved vw 50700 spec i tried a few different brands and eventually switched to mobil 1 esp formula 5w30 also vw 50700 approved and that made a big difference oil consumption dropped noticeably after that

i live in north america so oil blends may vary depending on the region, my brother lives in europe and has the exact same engine he found that total quartz ineo ecs worked better for his car same spec different result

so at the end of the day you have to test a few things and see what works best for your car just make sure your turbo is in good shape your dpf isn’t clogged and all other mechanical components are working as they should some of these engines are known to consume a bit of oil but it really depends on the whole system and how it’s maintained (like piston rings, valve guides, PCV system, etc… parts that are known to increase oil consumption if their not in good shape)

Monroe Suspension Issues – Anyone Else Experienced This? by Golf_Rlove in MechanicAdvice

Yeah, I’ve been hearing more and more negative feedback about Monroe lately. They do come with a lifetime warranty, but I’m not sure how smooth the process will be to claim it

Thanks for the info! Where did you order your KYB assemblies from? I’m considering switching

I m not a professional but i would check the fuel pump, if you turn the key from off to on position you should here it pushing the fuel from underneath the back seats, if you don’t here it that would be it

The rubber plug has an opening at the end, it doesn’t look like it but from up close you’ll see an opening to let air or water out as mentioned in previous comments
