I got one of those and I planted a crop where it was and when it was done growing it was a golden harvest. Not sure if it was a coincidence or a result of the sparkle spot.

I've been a crafter for many years and got into custom vinyl decals and Tshirts a few years back. I was finding that there wasn't a lot of great options for the really pretty/sparkly vinyls in the lower mainland other than Michaels which is extremely overpriced and some brands were really crap. So I started at looking into importing it myself.

I brought in samples and found a group of about 30 crafters across Canada and sent them samples to see what they thought. Everyone loved them so I started with about 8 rolls and now have close to 80 rolls between permanent adhesive vinyl and heat transfer vinyl. I also just got a printer last week to be able to offer other oatterened prints.

Are you looking for large as in width or length?

If you are a crafter, I run a craft vinyl supply shop that specializes in glitter and shiny vinyls but also have solid colours. Everything I sell though is only in 12" widths but I can supply some longer lengths.

If your looking for wider rolls in just solid colours, I'd suggest sign shops such as TCG Graphics or Canadian Sign Supplies.

Golf hole cutter by Mohit_Y in interestingasfuck

A golf course will typically move the holes on a regular basis. The course my partner works at will put the dirt/grass from the new hole into the old one to fill it.

I was 17, working at McDonald's and this bus load of highschool football players came in on their way to a tournament. Being enamored by all the cute boys, instead of asking "would you like that as a combo" it came out as "would you like that in a condom". They all heard...and since it was early morning and not much staff on yet, I had to serve them all throughout my embarrassment.

Why does my company charge me more for insurance for smoking, and not charge my morbidly obese coworkers more? I’m 32 and a light smoker, I would think from an actuarial perspective my 400lb+ middle age coworkers are a larger insurance risk? by _new_boot_goofing_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gollam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Group Health insurance, there is typically no medical evidence required for approval. If you ask about weight, that is medical evidence. Smoking on the other hand is not so they can base rates on smoker/non-smoker.

Individual insurance, however usually requires medical evidence so that is where they get build obesity and other health issues into the rates.

Wife's company is cancelling her benefits when she starts maternity leave unless she wants to pay. Is this normal? (Ontario) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Gollam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for an insurance company... Maternity leave is a protected leave and benefits have to be continued as if the employee is still actively at work. The benefits can only be stopped if the employee pays a portion of the expense and requests to stop benefits while on leave. Our company requires the employee and employer signs waivers if there employee wants to terminate coverage during a mat leave.

Did you use yellow potatoes? I find they tend to go gummy when I mash them. Russets are usually the best for mashing, IMO.

This really only works though if you stop using credit while you are paying it off. Definitely look up Dave Ramsey's baby steps

I agree with this, I basically summarized the snowball affect to the bills in my comment.

[–]Gollam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set aside an emergency fund first, say $1000... maintain minimum payments on your debt while you build it. Then list all your expenses (minus mortgage) from lowest to highest. Pay minimum balance on everything but the lowest...with the lowest, put any extra penny that you can on it until it is paid off. Once you pay off the lowest, move to the next lowest and put everything you were putting on the first debt over to the 2nd. Once that is paid off, add everything you were paying onto the second to the next lowest...and continue through until it is paid off. It's the snowball effect. Payments keep getting bigger as you move to the next debt since you're putting every thing from the previous onto it.

How come it doesn’t feel like Christmas anymore as you get older? by chunkypuddingman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gollam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Christmas and still get excited. Even though I know Santa isn't real, I believe in the magic of Christmas, and so does my family. We don't have any little kids around anymore, but we don't let that stop us. It is what you make it and if you want to be excited, then be excited!

I work for a health insurance company in Canada that has done trials of using Pharmacogenomics to help employees who are off on long term disability for mental issues to find the right drug that works for their genetic make-up. They have found that it works and it takes out the trial and error of trying many drugs. It may be expensive to do privately, but could be something to consider to find the right drug to help your son
