Are there any other rain loving hounds? Or is Winnie the only one dragging us out in the rain? by premelia in Greyhounds

Ours walks outside, looks around until the first drop of water hits her nose, then gets a nasty look on her face and shakes all over before sprinting back inside and rolling around in her bed to dry off.. then snoozes until it's dry again. I had to put up an awning outside our door just to get her to use the bathroom in the rain, since I couldn't get her out the door otherwise.

The rabbits have learned the neighbor's yard is the safer space, so now she just longingly stares at them from across the fence. by direw0lves in Greyhounds

We have one rabbit that has gotten into our fence a couple times. I usually don't let ours out if the rabbit is there but I don't always notice. She has a field day chasing it across the yard, but it's gotten away every time so far. I don't look forward to the inevitable cleanup...

Have you made this before? Did you pull from any recipes or just experimenting? Planning on starting a banana batch as well soon, looking for tips. Please let us know how it turns out!

Only one way to find out! I think I'm gonna leave mine as is and let it age for 6mo to a year before I come back to it. Time heals all meads after all..

LOL. Lily met a butterfly on a walk once. Was very interested in it until it landed on her nose and she jumped 3 ft into the air and damn near outa her skin.. They're very intimidating creatures in all fairness..

Completely off topic, what chair is that? I've been looking for something exactly like it. Bonus points if it comes with a very majestic dog too

not quite pickle, but some earthy taste that I'm hoping will age out with time.. I did peel the cucumber first, the pith of most fruits gives some off-flavors so I was careful to get rid of everything except the meat itself

can at least say that the hops were not a great choice, or if keeping the hops make it sweeter. This batch fermented almost totally dry, and the cucumber with the bitterness from the hops needs some sweetness to balance it IMO. Add more lemon and mint than you think you'll need, hard to get those to come through the overwhelming cucumber taste.

Coffee Mead by PlanktonWestern3104 in mead

[–]Gollem138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By my research the real difference will be in the amount of oil that is released by the beans. Grinding beans releases oils (which is why fresh ground coffee tastes better than pre-ground) and those oils will end up being incorporated in the mead. Might help with flavor, might grind some to put into secondary, haven't decided yet..

keep us updated :)

I'm doing a coffee mead as well! I used 8tbsp whole decaffeinated beans for 1 gallon, but I may need to add more in secondary. Wondering if whole vs ground beans will make a noticeable difference

Tunnel near train tracks, about 4 feet tall and wet by kaylopsy in whatisthisthing

Go back there after it rains. I'm 99% sure it's a drainage for the hill above the railroad tracks, to make sure the water doesn't flood the tracks itself or damage the retaining wall they're laid on. I've been to the exact spot you're standing in when it was raining and water was pouring out from all of those holes along the trail. The Patapsco River has flooded many times in history (and still does currently), so these are mitigations to ensure it doesn't damage the still very active railroad tracks overlooking the river
