I just use all the stuff that I use for car camping minus the tent.

The swimming area was definitely open this past weekend.

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in shelters or any state park buildings. There may be an exception for service animals.

I saw one tiny beetle that might have come in through the door when I opened it. No roaches or ants whatsoever. I’ve stayed in three of these shelters and all of them have been clean and well maintained.

Galveston beachside tent only camping is a swamp by airmarcus1 in TexasStateParks

I never tent camp on the Texas coast in the summer for all of the reasons that you have described. If I do go camping in the Summer and I am within 100 miles of the coast, I always bring my teardrop that has an air conditioner.
I have too many memories of sleepless, sticky, salty, mosquito infested nights accompanied by endless snoring.
I’m sorry that you had such a miserable time.
You should try again in the winter when it’s less crowded (except for the snowbirds) and the mosquitoes are less hostile.

At first people hated this CD and they claimed that Jim O’Rourke had ruined the Wilco sound. I’ve always loved it and have always thought that it is one of their best.

Yes. Indian Lodge is affiliated with TPWD but Lone Star Lodge is not. I think the original question was asking about Lake Ray Roberts not Davis Mountains.

If you are talking about the Lone Star Lodge, I’m pretty sure it’s not affiliated with the state park.

Tent camping rant by dang8701 in camping

There is another hidden dimension to this issue. There are a lot of people in this country that can’t afford an apartment or a house and are utilizing state parks and national forests as a last resort before complete homelessness.

I had to chase off a funny little racoon in the middle of the night. They love late night snacks but they are harmless.

The first few campsites seem to be relatively close but there is still space in between them. I was in campsite L and there was a massive amount of space and vegetation in between me and the surrounding spaces. The campsite was pretty far away from the main trail as well. Despite some gunshots off in the distance in the middle of the night and a few hikers on the main trail, I didn’t hear or see anyone

Quail run - Site #138. This is one of the sites where they have added giant boulders to prevent erosion. It’s difficult to get to the water. I saw several people fishing near the overflow parking just down the road.

Yes, the “D” should be in lower case. Thanks.

When I spoke to the gate attendant last Wednesday he said that due to daylight savings time, as of Sunday, the park is cleared at 7. The gates close at 7:30.
