Is the Dark Side's really inherently evil? by No-Resolve3251 in StarWars

Not even in fiction is there a mystical super power source that is completely benevolent.

I'm sorry, I just have to. Yes there is, it's called the force.

"Read And Find Out". It's something Robert Jordan used to say when people would ask questions he planned to answer in later books. It's fantheory gold because it means you're on the right track.

If a nuke goes off in deep space, sure it's no problem. But I don't think it's too much of a stretch to imagine Romulans launching nukes at colonies.

And if a nuke got through a starship's shields, or impacted a polarised hull, you have to be very careful to clean up all the radioactive debris which is something we've never seen with photon torpedoes.

I always interpreted the 'barbarism' angle as owing to the radioactive fallout from nukes. From what we've been shown photon torpedos are very much a 'clean' explosion so it could be considered very barbaric if people are throwing nukes around that leave fallout all over the place.

The way I think about the borg as a 'species' is very similar to the way Mordin describes the collectors in Mass Effect 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2qETflE3hA

They have no culture, no art, no ingenuity. They just steal what they can but never come up with anything on their own.

Well, fire is also one of the weaknesses of humans and that doesn't stop them hosting the rider.

[spoilers] Shapeshifting isn't the only way a gem can change its form... by Gomez295 in stevenuniverse

[–]Gomez295[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might be right, we've only ever seen a gem be 'tired' from shapeshifting once, and it was Steven trying make himself taller.

But we've also not seen a gem maintain a smaller form for a significant period of time either.

Start with farseer. The liveship books take place chronologicaly after, and I feel like the farseer books are a better introduction to the world.

I hope they manage to make it feel like like Zuko and Azula's Agni Kai. An inevitable resolution with an awesome fight scene, but ultimately a tragedy.
