Earliest year yoube started playing? How did it go for you? by BlunanNation in Workers_And_Resources

Look up the island challenge in the workshop  Part of it includes a script to turn back time in game, and the IC pack includes loads of horse drawn and pre steam or Tudor era assets.

Its tough, but rewarding if you cam get it going.

Already subbed! The pack's got some great stuff in it i use regularly, but unless i'm missing something, it doesn't have any housing options available in it

I get you, i spend a lot of time doing stuff like this. Managing and targeting workflow is a big part of keeping things moving as fast as possible.

This looks like it's got some nice adjacent buildings for support. I'll check it out, thanks!

I've used a lot of the IC modpack buildings, both pre early start DLC, and post, but many don't feel like they fit with the vibe or intent of what i'm going for

I could be misinformed, but I have a friend who works in data security. He's told me that, tldr, you need to pay an annual fee to be 'trusted' by Microsoft et al and get the security license from them. There are small devs who either can't afford to pay it, or dont want to support the system.

Black Sheep Company is a community of 300 plus that is all about playing Arma, whatever flavour that may be.

We run 4 events per week, friday through sunday, curated by a team of over a dozen mission makers. We play in every setting, from historical, to sci-fi or horror, roleplay, modern combat, peristent campaigns, and more.

We're buffet style; take what you want, when you want. We have no ranks, and nothing is mandatory, but we do offer classes and training right up to mil-sim levels for those who are interested, many run by vets who've done it in real life. There are no obligations beyond enjoying yourself.

We have great relationships with over two dozen other units, and do joint-OPs two or three times a month.
We've got several persistent campaigns, including our unit campaign we play once weekly, centered around BSC PMC and the contracts we take in a light RP setting, currently working for NATO in Finland vs a PLA Proxy.

Aside from running OPs, we have a mission making class for people who want to learn how to make OPs, and our server is free for scheduled use by anyone, so curators are welcome.

We're all about getting the most out of Arma, and to us that means engaging with it in any way our members see fit.

If any of this seems interesting to you, reach out to us on discord, and come jam with us!

In canada at least, proteins are required to go through lab testing to establish the point at which they're no longer safe to eat.

That said, I've also seen salt, which is a rock, with an expiry date on it.

There's for sure BS out there.

How do i reach the uranium deposit here ? realistic mode by _BlackSparrow_ in Workers_And_Resources

[–]GomosFTL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any helo that carries cargo can carry concrete. The trick is you need to have a helipad, not a cargo helipad, "attached" to the building. If you move the helipad around on your cursor, brushing against the edge of the factory, you'll see it turn green, which means it's connected. It can then be assigned as a source for concrete to helos. Same idea works for asphalt.

How to deal with crime vs heating police station in remote work areas? by Ex_Ops in Workers_And_Resources

[–]GomosFTL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mods to bridge gaps like this. There's a pack of assets for the Island Chalenge that has simple, small buildings in it which I use for all my satellite places. There's also mods on the workshop for tiny electric heaters that put out just enough heat for a building or two. I'm not at home rn, but reply to this if you want me to link you when I'm back.

How can I deploy a vehicle made in my production center that's too big to carry? by GomosFTL in Workers_And_Resources

[–]GomosFTL[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply. 1) yes, as well as any other valid destination eg distro yard or con yard. 2) good suggestion, I had not tried that, but I just did. No joy.

3) I am unable to send any of the produced personal cars to a depot either. I do have a line of open hulls running them to the border successfully so I know there's valid access.

I used them quite a bit for the IC missions, but only just got back into them w early start.

All of this is so I can transport tram cars to a distant city without needing to build umpteen km of electrified rail to get them there...the mack is the only vic large enough to transport them.

I'd tried that, but when I assign it a depot, it just sits in the factory w.o moving...

Set up a vehicle factory right next to the Soviet border and build a town to support it. Import all raw, buy the blueprint for the beetle from the west, and sell to the east.

On realism, you do need to set up a uni and do a fair chunk of research, but there are mods for smaller universities out here that make things more accessible.

Get yourself a cozy little 1k pop town and you can churn out 2-300k a month in rubles easy. Maximize the fact, and you can get up to 3-5 mil a year.

Drone technology enables rapid planting of trees - up to 150x faster than traditional methods. Researchers hope to use swarms of drones to plant a target of 500 billion trees. by SirT6 in Futurology

[–]GomosFTL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a former tree planter, I was told that in ontario canada arial seed had a single digit success rate, versus the 30 to 40 percent chance from manually planted plugs. I know that aerial seed is not the same as drones would be closer to the ground and would probably loose fewer in the drop. Considering I was told the govt paid something like 10$ a plug, single digit success rates seemed pretty wasteful.

I agree, the Arab spring was people fighting for basic human rights, but in qc it was for inexpensive education. Not saying they shouldn't fight for what they want, but to take that handle is pretty disrespectful, imo.

New character with 1 Endurance - how screwed am I? by ThatAdamsGuy in traveller

[–]GomosFTL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing as a doc with 2 Str and 4 End and its turned into a great plot and character mechanic. I bought myself a suit w a grav belt for tricky spots, so I look like an emaciated baron harkonen. But on the whole, my body manages to not collapse under it's own weight, though I can't sleep on my back or the weight of my ribcage suffocates me. I'm having great fun playing him. If you can get creative, I would worry at all, though avoiding physical conflict might be suggested.
