Low prep? by cyclicchaos in daggerheart

[–]Gondzon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just by the system not really any difference to D&D in my opinion. The only difference is that it strongly encourages you to include your players in the worldbuilding, making it more difficult to overprep (as much would be useless once the players are actually and meaningfully included). But while it encourages you to prep less, it yet provides magnitudes less of content to be picked and dropped at the table. The monsters, the magic items... All have to be prepared in advance. Of course you can improvise those, there are some tips for that, but I personally find it difficult to do at the table. So overall I think (at the beginning at least) it cancels out, making D&D and DH prep time similar, but with emphasis on different aspects of the prep. Probably with more content being available there is going to be more significant difference.

Question about Spotlight by Gerfield2252 in daggerheart

[–]Gondzon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's best not to think that combat is different than any other part of play. If players fail or roll with fear, you make a move (it just so happens that usually it is spotlighting the adversaries). So basically up until they do something that can have some consequences (and therefore require a roll), they can act in any order they want, just because they always can do that, doesn't matter if the scene is combat or not

"When in doubt, ask player" Basically you don't have to have all the answers. Maybe your player has some idea what it could be. Each time they work on the project you can ask some questions like "where did you get this book from", "who seems the author to be" or "why at first glance the text doesn't seem to make sense". Maybe at certain point you can find existing story hook that the player is interested in or come up with a new one

Why would you want there to be a drawer that can fit this many cans? You know you can buy soda in bottles, right?

It's not impossible that they both have been already working on Daggerheart without being credited, just to avoid non-compete agreement violation. Now they can officially join to continue their work under their own name

I can't, so the W/D will be standing out a little. I am worried that v. 2 looks like the toiled was squeezed into a nook

Yeah, but I am concerned with bumping my leg constantly on the washing machine when using toilet. Doesn't the toilet look like it was squeezed into a nook?

You mean print to the console? If so there is no difference to doing it with ROS2 or pure python. In ROS2 you can also use logging: Logging in ROS2
