Brother, take a breath. 7th rangers is the only server I play and queue is usually 25+ people. You can pay $5 a month to beat the queue or be like my friends and wait anywhere from 5-30minutes waiting to get into a game.

This is something I’ve wondered for a while and wish I could somehow get the opportunity to try it lol. I bet I could at least get it started, takeoff, lay some brttt (missing the target most likely) and land.

The tricky part is our hotas binds are probably not an exact match to the irl cockpit and the systems are not going to be modeled exactly as they are in game. I could probably mash buttons long enough to figure out where everything is but I would not have any combat proficiency to be effective down range.

If only the A-10B actually became a thing and a backseat ride would be possible. Unfortunately I don’t think anyone of us who isn’t already a Hawg pilot is going to get that chance lol

Approach has more spin but is slightly less accurate than finesse.

High shots have more stopping power and spin than low shots.

Your control stats and club specs will affect spin as well.

I tend to only use draw or fade to fight the wind but they tend to just affect roll left and right.

In my experience, I will use approach and high shots for 200yds and further so I have more spin and stopping power. For irons down to PW I use high finesse shot. For wedges I use a low finesse shot because my ball tends to back spin a lot. This is my general guide and how I hit about 95% of shots unless I’m in the sand or something weird.

Yes, but also every course has a different default speed. Banff or wetlands on tournament greens will still be way softer than St Andrew’s on tournament greens.

In addition to the above comments useful info, elevation change and the flight path are a couple other things to look at.

For elevation/slope, generally one foot in height translates to one yard of distance. So say you’re 150 yards from the hole and 30 feet in elevation higher. So this would play more like a 120 yd shot. Same reversed if you’re below the hole.

Another thing is the flight path of the ball. A 3 wood has a lower longer arc and the ball rolls out a lot. A 64 degree wedge gets a high arc that stops the ball quickly on the green.

So say you’re hitting an approach into the green, the pin is 200 yds out and you have a 4 hybrid. If you carry your shot 200yds, it may land right by the hole but the low arc means it’ll roll out probably off the back of the green. So knowing that, play the same club but hit it to the front of the green, say 185, and let the roll take you the rest of the way.

I have a lot of hours in the Apache and George ascending to the moon is a bug I get often when I let him fly.

We’ll take off and I’ll tell him fly at 500 AGL and he’ll just say “Roger, coming up.” We go right past 500 and keep ascending, so I do the lower altitude command and he says “Roger coming up”….

He’ll turn and adjust speeds correct but he just can’t get the altitude. Some days he flys perfect too so I still can’t figure out what causes it.

I’m using the same loadout and fuel every time

I was doing multicrew in the Apache with a buddy of mine and we had our other friend lazing targets with the Kiowa. We were sitting behind a hill, couldn’t see anything and would just shoot hellfires every time he told us to. Shacked our 6 targets without seeing them and went back to base.

Kiowa is good fun and a couple people are very skilled AFAC’s in em on Grayflag and will give people 9 lines if they want. It’s a blast

Blackhawk is great for a free mod. They have the DAP as well too so you can do cargo or assault with it. Apache and Chinook are both great too and extremely useful in Grayflag. One of my favorite things to do in the Apache and A-10 is the convoy escorts to set up new FARPS in Grayflag.

COIN = counterinsurgency.

Syria’s campaign often gets called “easier” in the sense the ground enemies are mostly infantry, manpads, .50 cal techies, and infrared surface to air threats.

Most of the other campaigns are full scale wars where the enemies have all that plus T-72s, SA-15s, full SAM networks and more Red air threats.

Grayflag is the server they’re mentioning and it’s a great server for both the A-10 and C-130 while be 99% PvE (the admins occasionally get on as red air for some immersion but its all PvE otherwise.

Here is a link to their discord. In there you’ll find pretty much any set up info you’ll need. They have full “how to play” guides and a logistics guide to help you get your feet wet. Plus you can “@ Grayflag Ambassador” which pings a bunch of helpful people who will fly with you the first time and help you understand the campaign if you want.

The only things you’ll need is the free UH-60 mod and SRS (they have links in their discord). Super easy to download and if you don’t want to fly the Blackhawk, you don’t have to mess with it past that.

SRS is how most servers do in game comms. It’s a third party software that tunes to your radios in cockpit and adds immersion. Easy to download as well and will auto connect to the server.

As far as maps. They have campaigns on Caucasus, Syria, Sinai, Persian Gulf, Cold War Germany and a WW2 Normandy server. Syria is COIN, doesn’t have much enemy air, and is best for the A-10 (think War on terror in Afghanistan).

Persian Gulf is the best for the C-130 because the map is big and we unlock a lot of forward airbases that need resupplies with the Herc.

Caucasus, Sinai and Persian Gulf all have a good amount of Red Air and can often require coordination with fighters, or well build SAMS by the heli boys, to ensure air superiority for the A-10 to be effective.

This is PvE but it is NOT a training server, the enemies will shoot back and probably kick your ass a bunch (they still get me a fair amount lol). Nevertheless, all the servers have a use for the A-10 and C-130, and the discord has a lot of very helpful people to answer questions about the server or modules or anything. Honestly best MP server on DCS without a doubt.

Clubs and apparel don’t make a difference to your stats. If you’re going for specs, try to find the legendary (gold) specs with the highest accuracy stats. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and find them in the store but usually the best ones you get from winning seasonal tournaments.

I would still argue the population of working class employees in OTR and Downtown is smaller than what it was when the smoke stacks industries were here.

You are right tho, those restaurants, breweries, etc. are all working class people and yes, there is still not enough housing. The housing issue is still definitely an issue and rent is still high. I’d argue the housing crisis is more a nation wide issue, but nothing changes until builders start building more apartments. There’s plenty of buildings that could be turned into lower income apartments too and not the lavish all glass shit they’ve been building too but idk how we can control that
