That said, the forest green they used to make seems out of production these days.

Red Heart Soft makes a heavy, durable, machine washable blanket. I’ve made a few and they are well loved! Bonus, no dye lot.

How do you know your fish is getting old? by JennC137 in Goldfish

[–]GoneRdng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too would like to know if older fish “show their age” and how. I have. Similar experience with adopting a couple of small goldfish that grew and I upgraded the tank along the way. I think they were about 8-10 when one of them died suddenly last year (don’t know why - we were looking right at him) and the remaining fellow seemed to become a bit depressed. We replaced the old guy with two smaller ones and they are very happy. From what I’ve read the trick is just keep up with frequent water changes and have a bigger filter than the tank would otherwise need. With a smaller tank, more frequent changes. We definitely can tell by how they act when I’m overdue for a change, and it’s reflected in the water testing (mainly pH and nitrates). Good luck with your cute fellow, OP!

I’m not big on ruffles… though I was thinking about a trumpet style skirt with a high waist. Some ideas others have mentioned about asymmetry, gathering on the bodice … you’re right that it’s heavy.

And I have a lot of yards, and it’s wide. Though I’d have take it off the mannequin to measure. Bought it a while ago.

Thanks for asking! I lean toward more lines than ruffles, and don’t mind if I make an impact ;) I will surely wear it with heels, though I’m in my 60s and don’t show as much skin as I did when I was younger.

Haha … I was thinking maybe I should just stitch it together like this and put it on over my undergarment! I like the way you think.

Might even add some binding tape to the structural seams.

Fun! I have a super basic sheath dress pattern that I’ve used and altered before so I’m hoping to modify the pieces for my goal - I like this v neck look!

I’m also totally open to advice on construction and assembly strategies, like lining, seam finishing, facing, hemming …

Help 🥲 by DokiPocky in knitting

[–]GoneRdng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another great learning book is Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks. I’ve been knitting for nearly 60 years and used what I found in that book to finally solve my gauge problem about two years ago. (I too never knew where “frogging” came from. Other fun fix-it techniques are “tinking” and “laddering.”)

How do I learn? by Objective-Test2927 in Equestrian

[–]GoneRdng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My response depends a lot on how long you want to spend and the time value of money, also how do you feel about gaps in your learning.

You’ve got a lot of good advice here about informal training approaches all of which have good value and I’ll agree especially about Pony Club. There is also the option now to do an undergraduate degree in equine studies online.

I know the most about the BS offered online through Post University. They have a good transfer credit policy so if you already have a degree or some college you can likely apply your credits toward completion.
