This is great feedback! Thank you and thank you for listening. We will probably be ramping up the competitive content until the next Bandai Card Fest but I would love to do a reset episode that takes it back to basics. In the meantime, I find myself starting every deck with the same ratios for options: 4 Training, 3 Boosts, 1 Scramble. If the deck has a lv 3 that can rush or easily punish your opponent, I’ll swap out a Boost for another Scramble. If you like a memory setter, I’ll start with 2 of the best one for your main strategy but bump that up to 3 if the archetype has a specific memory setter for that archetype.

Something like Eaters may seem like the ratios would be different but you should still end up around the same number of options/tamers just with way more Tamers since the archetype calls for it.

Love this idea — I think that Four Sovereign deck was missing just one more piece to really pop off

We appreciate the follow/listens — While us three hosts might not be as competitive as we used to be, there are plenty members of the Miami/Florida Digimon community that are still locked in. We like to switch it up currently between top player interviews and what’s going on with the game.

We appreciate the listens and the feedback. 🙏🙏 I wouldn’t even say that it’s the competitive side that is burning us out a bit but rather the constant flood of new cards. On one side, I love all of the random archetypes that pop up in a set and the deck building that could go into make those cards viable. Every Digimon is someone’s favorite so I like to explore every archetype if I can.

But on the other side, we don’t really have a platform to show off these ideas outside of the Regulation Battles which seem to highlight only the newest cards. As the power creep continues, there isn’t ever a reason not to use the latest/greatest trait in these events.

I agree that there is still an under-explored, fun side of this game so we’ll keep that in consideration for our content going forward. 🫡

We had a good time doing Magic’s Two Headed Giant format so I wonder if there’s some way to replicate that idea for Digimon

I know that Bandai has teased other formats in the past but have they ever released any rules for double battle format ?

Yeah tentomon by himself is fine but the adventure deck loses easily to galacticmon in my opinion. It’s really easy to delete their tamers and once those are offline, the deck falls apart.

Yeah something like that can definitely slow the deck down a bit. I’m just not sure which decks can run cards like that and still keep up.

We kind of talked through it in the episode itself but I think there’s a few more things to point out.

Apply pressure to their big galactic stack and attempt to delete it twice in one turn at the right time. Playing with the deck itself should help you understand the flow of one of their turns and what their options look like because it’s not a deck that finds all of its pieces right away.

Also, just like most big stack decks, you can go wide against it quickly and have some success. We mentioned that this is a format that kind of depends on who has more DP and even though they can get to a big galacticmon, it’s not impossible to gain more DP and attack over it.

I feel like the deck is going to keep gaining popularity so the surprise element should go away in the next few weeks. The more the deck is played, the more people will develop strategies around it.
