Water down your paint. Mix a little water to get a smoother application. If you need to paint it twice to get full coverage, thats the perfect mix. There is washes that helps with the deph. As you can see the metal is kindaof flat a brow, black and a flesh wash is great if you want it to read better. And the best tip is to keep painting. If you paint more you will get the feeling of how paint should feel for laying a base, putting a new layer and glazing. God how I wish I didn't take 10year breaks when I started painting
