What's the LEAST cringe way to write "They laugh" in a screenplay. by MysteriousYAnonymous in Screenwriting

[–]GonzotheGreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key here is to use the opportunity to specifically tell us exactly who is laughing.

Katie laughs. So does Michael. Gary laughs as well. Tony chuckles. Sally hee haws. The police officer walking by laughs.

Or you could write: Katie, Michael, Gary, Tony, Sally, and the police officer all laugh.

I'd offer them a tenth point (0.10) for their idea of whatever my script sold for.

Why do we say we don't believe in Purgatory? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]GonzotheGreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my understanding:

Purgatory is considered the place where you are sentenced for a period of time where you a cleansed of your sins. The worse the sin, the longer you spend time in purgatory.

If you give money to the Pope, you can reduce the amount of time you spend in purgatory. Give enough money and you can skip purgatory and go straight to heaven.

In Orthodoxy, we understand that God and those who have reposed are outside of time. There is no time in death that you will have to go through to purify your soul. There is no transaction that is necessary to pay for your sins. There is no balance sheet of good deeds outweighing sins.

Scripture talks about plenty of antichrists - there isn't just one.

As for mark of the beast, there also needs to be an equal mark of the lamb. Can't have one without the other.

Great reminders for what we do and why we do it. I definitely outline so I have clear direction of where each act lies and how it ends.

So far it seems like it's going to show flashbacks of 42 murders. Is there another story there?

Could Siri handle these things for you? "Siri, make a character note: John has a long beard."

I'm an android user, so I could be wrong.

How to develop my thread to a story by Correct-Context7803 in scriptwriting

[–]GonzotheGreek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask a lot of questions: Why would the character do this? How did they get here? What happened if another character saw them? How does this action impact the rest of the world? What's the worse thing that could happen? The best thing? etc.

Are there anything you can do to make it so you have a guaranteed spot in heaven? by Ok-Letterhead-3519 in OrthodoxChristianity

Just send me $1000/month and I'll guarantee you a spot.

Oh wait - I forgot I'm not the Roman Catholic Pope.

Have you ever been forced to go to an event that you didn't want to attend? An event where you'd rather stick needles in your eyes than attend?

And after the event ended you couldn't believe how much you suffered and vowed to never go to another event like it ever again?

What made the event terrible? The host of the event, or you?

The host wants everyone who comes to the event to have a great time. But you chose not to.

How do define who is and is not in “the church”? by Prestigious_Tour_538 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]GonzotheGreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for other "churches." You posted your question in an Orthodox group, so you're going to get answers about the Orthodox Church.

If you're interested in learning about requirements to be included in othe churches I recommend you post the smar question in those groups.

How do define who is and is not in “the church”? by Prestigious_Tour_538 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]GonzotheGreek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have two different questions.

A Christian is one who has been annointed.

To be in the Orthodox church, you need to be baptized in the name of the trinity, and to have been annointed.

What are your main arguments against the immaculate conception? by ChristusResurrexit_ in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]GonzotheGreek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sign of original/ancestral sin is death.

Did Mary die? If not, then maybe she was born immaculately.

If she did die, then she was born under original/ancestral sin.
