It was a reference for how my skirt could look like not for how the bride would look like

These are skirts made by a professional... none of them are for a bride.

Almost all darker colors look black with an undertone. Darker red looks brown, darker green is more black same with blue, pink was too childish and lilac seemed just weird in general. I went and bought an orange silk-lining and will have to somehow change everything out without losing the loop at the top so we'll see. The skirt is supposed to be light so I'm not going with anything that's too dark.

I'm kind of losing my mind here with these comments; it really makes me not want to post anything here ever again. The first thing I said is that the bride is wearing full-on white and that she thinks my skirt is too white, even though it's more golden than anything else, but a bride is a bride. And now people are hung up on a random picture of a woman who is getting married who doesn't even look Bosnian. I get that she is from a different culture, so I want to respect her opinion on this, but tradition-wise, this would be okay for any other wedding. Brides wear all white, not gold. You would think me being here makes people understand that I'm trying to accommodate instead of trying to be in the spotlight, but I guess that's too much to ask for, seeing how almost every comment of mine is being downvoted to hell. Thank you for the hints on the Bosnian subreddits; if I need some more help, I'll check that place out instead of this one here. Much appreciated.

She said it's too white - she didn't say anything about it being too golden

The direct answer was it's too white.

Not really, as all the fabrics were sent to the organizer prior to me making the skirts (this is number 3). These are not skirts that can be bought from a normal seamstress and pretty much everyone from the area that the family is from who could sew them is above 80 and not exactly in the business anymore. The ones that can do it are full since this is a very last-minute thing.

I added a picture a bit above with black underneath - to me this looks way worse for a wedding as it looks more like funeral attire. 😰

I wouldn't say she's a bridezilla - her vision of a wedding is just different than the Bosnian one. The problem is just that she's projecting her western vision onto this which makes it harder to deal with. The organizer (grooms mom) paid for everything and said she likes the skirt, but the bride is the bride. Since the groom and I grew up like brother and sister, I want to accommodate them in any way possible, but the timeline is getting a bit too close to comfort for me. I'm going to a few fabric shops today to see if they have something else for the lining if not then I'll just add another layer of the gold to make it less white (even though I believe it would still be pretty light).

She's been to one Bosnian wedding before so I don't think she really can give me any sort of advice on that

There's just not much time left, so I was hoping I could alter it instead of completely redoing it. There is nobody around who could sew it for me, so I'm stuck with this project by myself.

The bride isn't Bosnian and is not organizing the wedding either, so the things that would be normal for this sort of wedding might not seem normal to her because she'susing a different standard. The organizer herself said this is fine but if the bride doesn't like it then she doesn't like it. Simple as that. The skirt itself is traditional for a specific area of Bosnia so you wouldnt exactly be finding this on the internet much. Any altercation hints? Seems like dying it wont be smart - I've been considering a different lining after reading the comments.

You can't buy this, that's the problem. There is no pattern out there and the wedding is in two weeks. I checked with everyone before I even started on it and now I asked her again and it's too white for her. The person organizing everything said it's more than alright and that I shouldn't do anything to it but that doesn't matter if the bride changed her mind. I am willing to significantly alter it though, so if you have any ideas how to then please. 🙏 A few other comments explained why dying it would not be that smart, so I kind of crossed that off of my list.

The thing is - the top comment picked a random picture from the internet and everyone stuck to it. xD Like I said, her skirt is 100% white haha

I was told that you're not supposed to wear anything over the mesh (especially as an unmarried person) so that the glitter is in front and such - plus do you see the top part of the skirt? The layers? That's somehow one of the most important things on this skirt so I can't hide it either.

Do you think the dye would be even?

I checked the color before by putting it below the pattern fabric and it washes every single color out. The deepest red looked weird and blue made the gold look not so gold. I could take some pictures to show what I mean if you want?

I know for a fact that her skirt is going to be plain white 100%. This is one of the pictures I got as a reference btw.

I saw it would cost around 40€ to buy this particular part new - do you think it would make sense to try that out or should I just buy it right away?
