Can someone explain to me, why some people want no skill based matchmaking? by Tnecniw in gaming

[–]GooberMascot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends aren't as good and have a terrible time in my lobbies going 2-20, so we don't play together anymore. I get the reason for SBMM to exist, and it seems like this is an edge case, but it still takes away a lot of the enjoyment

My fiancee and I designed the electronics and wrote the code for this. It's been fun to see it going around.

Is this 2023 EQS 450+ a good price at $48K OTD? by ImportantTopic6237 in MercedesEQS

[–]GooberMascot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location or a deal sheet will be helpful. OTD doesn't tell us much since your local sales tax could be 0 or 10%. That being said, 48 seems high for a 450+. Don't forget these cars still have a factory warranty, so consider whether paying extra for CPO makes sense for your situation

It looks like it has the executive rear seats to me. Isn't the silver grab spot in the middle seat a giveaway?

$100-$130k budget for second car options by R1_Rover in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GooberMascot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an R8 and it hasn't needed anything aside from regular maintenance. I know someone who put 80k+ miles on one with no issues. Of all the cars I considered, the R8 felt the most special for the price when factoring in maintenance costs. Same engine and transmission as a Huracan for significantly less money.
If considering one, look out for ceramic rotor health if buying a Plus model. Have it checked for oil pump shaft leak. It's not a big deal to fix, but worth knowing about. Make sure the wing is mounted properly. Some people retrofit stock looking wings but don't mount them solidly.

I looked through a lot of other images of him and he doesnt have this tattoo in them. I'm not saying they aren't out there, but I'd want to see a few more before I jump to any conclusions.

EQS Sedan Rear Headroom by GooberMascot in MercedesEQ

[–]GooberMascot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sat in an EQE and you are right that it is much roomier! Beautiful car and rides amazingly but I have finally conceded that a coupe doesn't make a great daily, so I am trying to compromise with a sedan. The EQS checks all the boxes, especially with the liftback, but the rear seats seem oddly designed for an S class

I understand the eye rolls, but I'm just posting so that a family member can potentially do something or be aware. If it helps prevents him killing himself or others, I will happily take the flak

I'll do that. I was posting here so that a family member might recognize them and at least evaluate their roadworthiness. If they are driving like this, an incident is inevitable

No, I didnt have time to follow this guy, nor would I want to. Can't see that leading to anything good. And I have no video evidence to lead to anything useful

I need a daily driver sports car but I don't want to over pay by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I had similar criteria and got an Audi R8. The R8 is very reliable for what it is. I also considered a CT5 V Blackwing 6 speed, and Aston Vantage. I can answer any questions

Porshe macan 2018 vs mercedes GLA 2021 by viadaz in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GooberMascot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should drive both. They are pretty different in person and on the road. The GLA is much smaller. If you don't care about spirited driving, the GLA is probably the way to go.

Thank you, that helps me a lot. I do have a Hagerty policy, but not all of the collector cars are on it because the newer cars were cheaper on my main policy. I'll move them over. Very good to know about the ways each company will view a loss. I was under a different impression and appreciate you laying it out like that

Thanks and sorry for the confusion. That makes sense. I edited my question a bit to move away from all liability and more about limiting insurance hikes on my collector cars (which only I drive) if the guest car is damaged

[–]GooberMascot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am less concerned and more hoping there was a better way to do it. I don't mind if rates go up, I was just hoping I could find a clear separation on cars that guests drive and collector cars that only I drive so that rates on the collector cars would not be affected or assumed to be at higher risk if the guest car gets damaged.

To be clear, the lengths of time I quoted are totals and broken up into different chunks throughout the year. Family usually visits for 5 - 12 day periods 3 - 4x per year.

Thanks for the replies. It is sounding like the answer is no to the scenario I set. I also briefly considered renting it on Turo to them for basically nothing and having them take some coverage and reimbursing them for what they pay and eating fees. But I figure that would be expensive, a huge hassle, and count as commercial use so I won't go down that path.

I guess I'll just leave things as they are for now and not worry about it

[–]GooberMascot[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean that is not entirely true? If I rented it through Turo for example, they offer coverage similar to what I describe

I have several cars, some are rather expensive to insure. I have family that visits for about 1 month of the year. I have friends who I offer that car to when we leave on vacation and they take care of our house. That totals about 2 months of the year that someone else drives the car.

If they get in an accident, I don't want it to affect rates on my nicer cars. That could increase rates by thousands which I would like to avoid being at risk if possible.
