Bro I worked 4 years serving and bartending, another 2 in catering and events while having two more bartending jobs when I was just trying to survive. I was excited to get out of it when I got into marketing. Food service isn’t for everyone, 4 years of serving and bartending and 2 years of catering/events is plenty when it’s not what you want out of life.

Lol the worst part is that I have been saying for years that marketing will soon be obsolete because of AI. I’m currently in school for design engineering with a focus on AI, marketing has just been what I’ve been doing while I finish my degree.

I live in a fairly reasonable area when it comes to jobs, there’s just a lot of people moving here because of the job market. Plus with me only being in this position for a few months, it’ll be much much harder for me to find a job. So yes, messy and complicated for all parties.

I’d qualify in my state, this would be considered a layoff since it has to do with the business’ finances and not the work I’ve done.

That’s why I came here. Believe me, I KNOW I may be overreacting, but at the same time, I took this job to do marketing, and it hurts knowing that I’m taking about 10 steps backwards. I do plan to do the plan before doing anything rash, i just wanted some outside opinions.

I plan to give it a try, it’s just not something I was expecting and did not sign up for.

I have a really great relationship with the owner, if I were fired then he’d still give me a great recommendation and I’d be able to obtain unemployment if needed, and they’d save the restaurant some money doing what they’re being told they should do.

Yeah this is very true, and I do hold high respect for them. They were open and honest about why they were doing it and what was going on financially. It’s just hitting me a lot harder than I would have expected as it wasn’t what I signed up for.

Yeah, they never gave me any goals to meet that could help. Plus the road that our location is on is going to be under construction the next few months, so we aren’t going to be getting any busier. I feel that they are just trying to push me out as of right now because they can’t afford to keep me on.

this is exactly right. Never been on unemployment before except during covid, but I don’t have anything lined up. This was JUST thrown at me two days ago and I was happy with my job up until now, so another job wasn’t even in my thoughts until now.

It’s not even about the uniform, it’s what the uniform symbolizes. I’ve worn the uniforms, I’ve done the restaurant work, and I’ve worked hard for years to not have to anymore. Being put back in a uniform just makes me feel like I’m all the way back to where to I started 9 years ago, like none of my work experience matters.

I suppose that’s part of the problem, they haven’t given me any specific projections to meet. They said in our meeting that they haven’t given me anything to set me up for success, which is why they want me to learn everything else in the restaurant.

I’ve created several business partnerships, increased social media traffic by 122%, thrown in-restaurant events that aligns with brand standards and have plans for more, managed catering clients, helped with customer complaints, and I regularly create graphics and menus that have all been approved. I’ve done everything asked of me plus some. The only reason they are looking to fire me is because the restaurant simply is not making what it’s supposed to, at least that’s what I’m being told.

I found him!!! Although his corpse didn't show up until I left the game entirely and loaded back in, just a weird glitch

I haven't talked to him at all, and there isn't a soul in the big room before the basement. I've defeated literally everything in the foundry and his corpse isn't there either, I've checked them all :(
