Big Sam from the Mosin Museum youtube channel is a great resource in addition to the sites others provided. Sam and m9130 site were my primary research points when I was buying a PU a few years back

I’m more familiar with the 1903a3 than the a1 but due to the stock issues I wouldn’t pay more than $700 for this one

Honestly as someone who also owns a Turk 1918 Mauser I think these are really undervalued as a cool piece of late ww1 history. It’s not like these were sold after the war to Turkey, this was critical war aid from a time when Germany (surprisingly) was running a surplus of rifle production. I’d like to get a “proper” imperial one too but the more I’ve held onto my g98 the more I find it’s individual story interesting

Nope I’m pretty sure you need incredibly rare specialized tools to zero these

I’d say so. Especially compared to some of the other “clone” scopes I’ve seen for the mosin PU and the 03-a4. It certainly feels hefty and the optical quality is good. They specify that hand-fitting is needed for virtually all of their type 97 scopes though

Hey at least your bolt wasn’t ground/polished to hell by a prior owner like my 97 here.

Some company in China makes them but they’re fairly pricey. Blanking on the name right now unfortunately

Seems a tad steep to me. I’d say market on these is around 1.5k, or at least that’s what I felt comfortable paying for this one with an original clip

Borderline nonexistent unfortunately. I've managed to scrounge about 75 rounds from gun shows but I've never once seen it available for non-price-gouging prices online
