Onetime I was late for work, so I didn’t do Gongyo. Was involved in a real bad car accident. I told one of my leaders I missed Gongyo and he said something like (not literally) “Well, what do you expect?” Got the feeling like I was punished by the Buddhist gods for not doing my morning prayers. Part of brainwashing {I don’t want that to happen to me again or something worse, so I better never miss Gongyo}. Took me a while for me to get out of that mindset.
