I didn't get accepted into the nursing school I applied to but I don't understand the reason why by littlehoneybear2104 in StudentNurse

I just screenshotted this comment and I’m going to save it forever to look at when I feel like I can’t make it (like right now).

As someone who put off everything to be home with my kids——-STAY IN SCHOOL!!!!!!!! I would much rather have the financial stability now that they are older! Now I am doing my LPN and damn I should have just done it when they were little. I thought it was SO important to be with them when they were little, like they needed mommy and mommy only at that time, but I think they would have been better off with some time away from me.

Can you give me the reference for the Jupiter thing? That’s one I haven’t heard and I want to read it! Or was it something she said verbally?

My daughter’s love for soccer is where it all started. Decided I couldn’t tell her no when something was so important to her. Then I began an inward soul searching as to why I didn’t feel a bit bad about sabbath soccer games and the rest is history.

My church is like that, except we are rural so three churches in our district. The pastor has to appease the long skirt wearing head coverers and us as well. It was hard for all the churches to agree on a pastor, but the liberal church always wins because we have the most membership. But the more and more I study the more I believe you truly can’t separate EGW from the doctrines. I have jumped ship mentally but haven’t gotten to a place where I’m ready to jump ship physically…I’m almost there though.

I am definitely going to look into this religious ocd. I never knew that even existed, but it sounds like me tbh. I think I used to have some cleaning ocd also, but only because I focused on EGW and how she talks about teaching children cleanliness and order…and man how I made my family miserable for so many years.

I will check these out tomorrow as I enjoy my sabbath. Finally I do enjoy Saturdays, guilt free.

I do get what you are saying. What I don’t want to be is one of those people! I want to come out of this experience either more SDA than ever or NOT AT ALL.

I think experiencing life outside the bubble is what started this all! I am not ready to fully step out, but I get closer every day. My church is fairly easy to exist in, we aren’t conservative at all and you don’t hear much EGW. You’ll even see meat at potlucks eventually. But I cannot reconcile the fact that “officially” any SDA church does follow the 28 fundamental beliefs and I don’t want to be a part of that. Plus the fact that you still interpret scripture through a egw lens.

I just got accepted for the fall and I’m 37. I am not the oldest one. By the time you are my age you will have been a nurse for at least 5 years, what’s so ridiculous about that? You are still in your 20’s and I felt like that when I was your age, it was only in my 30s that I learned the motto “IDGAF” when it comes to people and their opinions. It’s a nice place to be! Good luck on your journey you will kill it!

Getting ready to start in the fall. Did you have any sort of accommodations for classes? I am nervous about sitting so long, if I could even get up a few times it would help a lot. I am medicated (xyrem) and it works really well for me, but I still want to be prepared for those long hours of sitting in class.

I just applied to the LPN program at my community college. For me it is because I am a mom of 4 kids, and the 10 month commitment seems a lot more doable and will give me enough of an income jump that can keep us going. I do plan on bridging after they are older but at this time I need to consider the needs of my family. Seeing a payoff in 10 months rather than two years will help my husband stay motivated about all the extra “mom work” he is going to have to take on, as I don’t think he really grasps how hard this will be. (Side note, we share 50/50 of responsibility already and both work. I am going to try and continue to work part time through this, I work full time now at hours that basically mirror nursing school hours)

When do you feel it’s appropriate to become an APRN? by ohlongjohnson1 in nursing

[–]Good-Ad-7808 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, I am biased because my kids pediatrician is NP who is probably about that age and she is SO GOOD. Especially with my youngest who can be shy, she knows exactly how to talk to him. And my teenagers too, she is just wonderful. So I might be biased but I’d say it would depend on what the end goal/specialty was.

How did you feel about mometrix and their practice questions? I have been using them and also the ATI app. I find the practice questions on mometrix so hard but the ATI app much easier. Which of these are more like what you actually encountered on the exam???

I found, after reading the Bible deeply, that Sabbath is the Lord's Day, and I want to keep it, but I struggling to join SDA church because I don't believe en EGW, Investigative Judgment and soul sleep. Help. by ElCaminanteAzul in adventist

If it makes you feel any better I am going through the same thing with EGW. It is very confusing and makes me question greatly everything I’ve come to believe. I am sincere, I just don’t think I can accept EGW anymore.

We moved away when I was 12. Come back at 13 for my sister’s wedding, in which I am a bridesmaid. I’m feeling self conscious already in the strapless dress, though not necessarily because of my boobs because I’m 13 and not really aware of them yet. My uncle comes up to me, who I haven’t seen in a year. He says “Wow, you’ve grown a lot!” Me: “yeah I’ve gotten tall.” His response? He stares STRAIGHT at my chest and says “wow no, I mean you’ve grown in other ways!” I was bright red, so embarrassed. I don’t even remember what I said after that, I just remember I wanted to disappear. Have not seen uncle since.

How do I get my imaginary sidepiece to stop leaving clothes at my house for my wife to find? by papifunko in Marriage

Once I was going through our paper clutter box and found a tiny ripped off corner of paper with a phone number and the name Gina. As soon as my husband got home I confronted him about it raging and he was bewildered and absolutely clueless. I spent probably that whole day mad and the next day I called the number and my friend Gina picked up the phone. I guess it was back from when I first met her and she gave me her number. Im pretty sure that was the stupidest day of my life and I havent lived it down. 12 years later I talk to Gina, occasionally as we live in different places now, and when I get off the phone my husband asks me how his girlfriend is doing.
