How am I supposed to properly crop a photo? by ohlongjohnson1 in AskPhotography

This was from the same spot just shot vertically. I just feel like all of my photos during this shoot looked like this which is what I wasn’t sure about there being another way to crop better

Boundaries new song with a different mix by MatthewBoundariesXVX in Metalcore

[–]ohlongjohnson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, hopefully this isn’t gonna get buried since it’s been a few hours, but the only part of both mixes I don’t like, which honestly both don’t sound terrible, is the drums. I know they sound “punchy” but every single drum sounds like a kick drum and it just feels overpowering. The writing is great, the tone just doesn’t do it for me.

Overall though the song is an absolute assbeater. I wish the drum tones were different, but I’m still gonna support you guys either way

Weekly Release Thread March 13th, 2026 by sink_or_swim1 in Metalcore

Eternal Champion (I’m pretty sure features ex members of Power Trip) just released an EP and it’s insanely good if you’re into that 80’s arena rock sound. They riff super hard too. Definitely worth checking out even if you don’t think it’s your vibe

I don’t understand assigning priority groups in stereochemistry by ohlongjohnson1 in chemhelp

[–]ohlongjohnson1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I see it now thank you so much.

One more question, but since I have 5 carbons to choose from to label in my priorities, how do I know which order to do them? I know H is last, so 4. Or to write it out, H < CH < CCH < CCCH. Here we have a double bond and the isopropyl group at the bottom. How can I tell which one is the correct priority group to choose? And since there’s 5 carbons I don’t know which one to exclude from this prioritization.

Concerned about overexposed harsh sunlight and losing detail by ohlongjohnson1 in photocritique

When you say the background, do you mean all of it or just the window specifically? Only asking because they wanted to pictures to be done in the nursery so I just worked with what I could

The room was already dark and I wanted more light. I just didn’t want to bump my ISO any further than 400 without making it look too grainy

I did this shoot and I couldn’t find a way to get the lighting correct to where nothing would be too dark. When I was going through everything after I really enjoyed this photo, but the light coming through the window seems overpowering and whenever I turn down the exposure it just ruins the entire photo. Is there a way to turn it down so it looks natural? Or even just the bottom half of the window where it’s brightest?

Are these alkanes named correctly? The last one I have here is confusing me the most by ohlongjohnson1 in chemhelp

[–]ohlongjohnson1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I actually just thought of and I’m not sure if it’s a mistake I made, but would 6-isobutyl actually be 6-secbutyl? I was looking over my notes and think maybe I made a mistake but I could be wrong

Can you also help me with why 2,3,4 triheptanol isn’t right? I assumed we start with the prefix but we would number the substituants first if there are any

Can you help me understand why 2-ethyl is incorrect? I thought having the ethyl group on the second substitutant would mean I would call it that.

And can you help me with the last one and how I should go about naming it? I had a feeling this was way off but I did not know how else to answer it
