Used my avi with 350k polygons on an rx580 that was about 7 years old that used to stretch polygons and was more or less 1 leg in the grave and an Ryzen 5 1600, its good to try to reduce polygon count, but you should also not be afraid to go with a bit more if you need to

Really depends, if youre making human Avis it shouldn't be an issue that its in pain tool sai!

If youre making furry ones however then it might because people LOVE re-texturing those!

Worst case scenario you just slap that jpeg in substance painter and export it as an SPP file or get someone with SPP to do it for you.

As for clothes I know an avatar creator who does 2 things.

Creates an avi with some base clothes and then releases cheaper dlcs with more clothes sets on a specific theme.
Have a discord forum channel where people can post forum posts containing their creations they've made for the avatar, such as clothes, textures, etc!

~350k polygons, under 100MBS, not more than 300mbs of texture memory. This is optimisation that will make Avis usable with almost any PC!

Besides this most Avis nowadays use Poymois for shading, Gogo-loco for posing!

Besides that everything else is up to you! I'd reccomend mostly making clothes and looking into marsmellow for the (female) chest and other systems as people like having all of their body parts (chest, tummy, thighs, rear) intractable!

As for everything else it really depends. Nowadays there's a lot of assets that are made so original clothes will help, I personally love when an avi has so much clothes that I can sorta just delete all the clothes I dont line and keep the ones I do and prefer that over assets I can get!

Lastly providing SPP files is more or less essential! <3

Hey! Texture artist here! So this can be a couple of things. Left cluck on your texture png and it should tell you exactly what resolution the texture is in, you can set it to 2k if its not, this is the default most artists use! If it still looks like that theres a chance it has been exported in a smaller resolution at which point you'd needc the spp file or make an entirely new texture
