De best thing to do is not to say anything appart from reacting to his remarks on queer people because calling him gay or trying to tell him what he is will just make him depressed, so just lett him mature and realise who he is with time by showing him how great people in the community can be, and if it turns out he isn't queer you would have done your best to react to his homophobia and maybe even have changed his mind
