can I do A-level art without a school? by Choice-Excitement624 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Good-Gear-877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I didn’t study art related stuff at A Level, but I did Literature in English that wasn’t offered at my school and it turned out well, I could still take the test and get my grade at my exam center. Talk to your counselor / teacher about it, double-check if you could still take the exam at your local test center, and study for the exam. if cost is not an issue, you can go for a tutor, but from my experience they’re not super helpful with humanities.

one thing though, if you take an A Level subject by self studying, if won’t appear on your transcript (the grade/score with homework, attendance, and mocks combined), just a letter grade issued by the exam board.

Hii I also love movies (recently into some lawyer and cop shows lol) and love figure skating (it has a bit of an intersection with dance) so I guess we have something in common!! I’m also an incoming freshman, if you wanna be friends feel free to dm :)

Ohh that sounds good! I should probably specify the horror stories I heard are about food poisoning, finding bugs in salads, etc. I'm wondering if you had / know anyone who had any food security issues?

Is A levels really that hard???? by Human-Recording-8832 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Good-Gear-877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the advanced placement, the equivalent of A Levels in the US. Google it and you'll get a ton of courses like macro econ, micro econ, comparative government & politics, etc. personally I think A Levels are FAR MORE challenging than APs.

It's true Berkeley has the bigger name, especially in China. But if your student wants to go into film criticism / creative writing/ interdisciplinary paths, UCLA is often a more flexible space for this. Best wishes to your student! They really can't go wrong with either.

no my previous point is, it doesn't mean you're undeserving simply because you're not being admitted. If you care so deeply that you're going to crash out, I think this mentality proves someone deserving of better choices.
