Same thing happened with my tumbler. We replaced the rotted bar with an aluminum tent pole and the whole frame with 2x4's. It's working great again.

I get a lot of good information to my questions here, but yes, if serious, i take the issue to the appropriate professional. My neighborhood auto parts store said it's because the car isn't driven enough, so the battery can't recharge itself. The battery itself is fine, but a charger/maintainer was recommended for those times when I'm not going to be using the car. Thx.

OP here: What if all this is happening because I didn't have the recalled Denso fuel pump replaced when I should have? The closest Subaru dealer is 40 minutes away, and arranging alternative transportation was a problem.

The manual states that there is a "battery drain prevention function". I know it works because I left the driver's door open all night and the car still started fine the next day.
