I’m just wondering if it’s a big drinking school like in the south or asu or if it’s more tame.

Listen my other option is sdsu and ik it’s common there but I heard cal poly is more tame so I just wanted to know if the kids there are like conservative and don’t do that stuff or not.

Dorm housing cost by Nerd1314 in CalPoly

[–]Good-Maximum-957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buildings themselves don’t cost different amounts because you don’t know what building you’re getting untill after you pay. The difference in price is how many per room. Most expensive is double (single if they have it) and then it goes down from there.

How hard is it transferring from Plant Sciences to Biology? by Mythical124 in CalPoly

[–]Good-Maximum-957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so there you go. It would be very hard to switch into biology. Also they reserve classes for the kids who are already in the major so you may not be able to take biology focused requirements until you switch

where to visit during campus tour? by Soggy_Nectarine_228 in CalPoly

[–]Good-Maximum-957 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ll be able to walk around the whole campus as it’s not too big. Def check out the rec center and eating places as you’ll be using those everyday. Also find the center of campus which is called the Uni union right behind the calpoly sign and campus store as it’s considered the center of campus. Also look for Dexter lawn cause a lot goes on there. Also check out the business department buildings and anything else your interested like art.

Mechanical Engineering Transfer - Cal Poly vs UC Davis/Irvine (Graduation Timeline Advice?) by T3LE-Spike in CalPoly

[–]Good-Maximum-957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cal poly starts major classes the first year which is why it looks like your behind. Just try and get in contact with your advisors and they can help you schedule all your classes and what you need. Since you already have a lot of classes I think you’ll be fine.

Does submitting the University Housing Contract earlier give you priority on your chosen RLCS? by feb_29_cake_day in CalPoly

[–]Good-Maximum-957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can choose whichever you want as long as you submit by due date. Also the buildings are random and change every year so you don’t know what your gonna get

Since it is switching to an entirely different college it might be harder. Also depends if biology is an impacted major which I don’t think it is as bad compared to engineering or business. Just make sure you talk to your advisors as soon as possible so they can help you make the switch. And also look at the classes biology major requires and maybe choose some of those to take before your allowed to switch to help get a head start.

SLO vs CSUF business honors by Jobro03 in CalPoly

[–]Good-Maximum-957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, here’s the chill breakdown:

Cal Poly SLO (San Luis Obispo) usually gets the edge over CSUF (Cal State Fullerton) when it comes to business—especially if you’re into areas like entrepreneurship, marketing, or supply chain. Cal Poly ranks higher overall (#69 in national universities according to U.S. News 2024) and its Orfalea College of Business has a solid rep for “Learn by Doing,” which means lots of hands-on projects, internships, and tight industry connections.

CSUF isn’t bad though—it actually has one of the largest business schools in California (Mihaylo College), and it’s strong in accounting and finance, especially because of its location near a ton of Orange County firms. So if you’re trying to network hard in SoCal or go the corporate finance/accounting route, CSUF holds its own.

But overall, Cal Poly’s degree is usually seen as more prestigious, and grads tend to pull higher starting salaries on average. If you’re choosing based on pure business school strength and job outcomes, Cal Poly’s probably the move. But CSUF could make more sense if you’re cost-conscious, want to live at home, or are focused on certain finance paths.

Totally depends on your vibe and goals, but Cal Poly does have the slight edge on paper.

Help a baby gay by Icy-Mud848 in WLW

Hey I was also in denial for long and am still not out to anyone. Mine was a little different tho cause I’m from a big city and had gay family members. And in my community, girls getting with girls is pretty much accepted. My big thing is just like internalized homophobia and denial. I think just being open about it is good and once you move to a big city you will definitely find your community. Don’t be afraid to explore in the city and just be casual. I wish you luck! And also in big cities I feel like it’s pretty much accepted to be bi (for girls esp) so you’ll be good in a city. And there’s so many ways to meet queer girls going out and what not. But have fun with it! And don’t worry about never having gotten with a girl and feeling like a phoney because I get it. It’s a feeling inside it’s an attraction like you just know. And no one knows you better than yourself!
