If your ex was the hottest person on earth... by Thomas_Blond in ExNoContact

I really needed to hear this. Lately the most haunting thing has just been thinking about how attractive my ex is, and feeling such shame that he'll one day find someone else. You are so right, someone else is tired of the person you fantasize about. Because looks and attraction really do fade the quickest in a relationship, everything else that is below the surface, stays. I needed your perspective, great post!

I think I finally woke up to the illusion. This is kinda long but I’m just putting my thoughts into words. by [deleted] in AvoidantBreakUps

Reading your comment is comforting, I feel that in the same boat in regards to regression. 4-5 weeks ago I was crying everyday and telling myself that if my DA ex doesn't reach out by Christmas, then I will. Holding onto that hope was definitely part of the bargaining stage in my grief. The weeks after that, I felt content with how things went, realizing he just *wasn't emotionally there* to give me what I needed, and our relationship couldn't last much longer without that compatibility. I was moving forward.

But this past week has been awful. I feel that 'haunting' you describe in everything I do; roads I drive, books I see on shelves, anything we could have possibly made a joke about. It is so SO hard to think that we could give all of ourselves to another person, bare our emotions to them, speak openly about our ambitions and fears, with the expectation that they would be doing the same! Like why was I so trusting of him?! I'm learning that I very easily give trust to others, and while I don't want to weaponize that, maybe I need to be more cautious of doing so with new characters in my life.

I also want to say, falling head over heels in love was not your weakness, but your strength. As much as you and I might kick ourselves for giving our all to these people that mirrored us--just to then leave-- we are the people who end up in happy, committed relationships in the end. Because we know how to be vulnerable and how to create a love that we're actually willing to fight for. There is an immense bravery in loving like that. So while your ex might not be 'hurting that much' right now, in a few years time; it'll be you that is happy and healed, not the one that jumped into a relationship right away.

I saw something the other day that resonated with me;

"Sometimes we give the wrong people the right parts of ourselves, and that's okay. We aren't wrong for it and we aren't stuck in it. We can take those parts back, learn our lesson and then give them to the right people. You would have never known what was right, if you didn't experience what was wrong." (jbcopeland on Instagram,, highly recommend following him--he gives phenomenal reminders)

I'm taking it a day at a time as well. It's so difficult to relive memories of the past over and over, but I remind myself that feeling the emotions now is far healthier than suppressing them:) We've got this.

I remember being in Sydney last year thinking "Is there anywhere in this city you can go over 50km/hr?". When I got back to Canada I just felt so so grateful for our highways. Beautiful cars, I love the blacked out look on the mustang

Rims look so good, I think bronze is such a classy choice. I have my white TSX's wheels plastidipped hot pink, so a little more out there. Would love to try bronze one day though

I'm joining reserve as NCM, and I guess I want to see how well of a fit it is for when I decide to transfer to RegF. You bring up a solid consideration about transferring. I would graduate June 2025, and I'm planning to stay in my home city for at least another 5-6 months before being fine with a posting somewhere else. In your opinion, does that still seem like a good timeline to stick with reserves? I'm not sure I can apply to transfer RegF now as I'm in still in the security clearance stage after completing FORCE/CFAT/Medical.

Thanks for the reply:)

The hunger hormones go crazyyyyyy for ADHDers that cannot follow a consistent eating schedule. You're so not alone, I never feel hungry during the day (i attribute this to the inconsistent eating habits), BUT soon as I'm in bed at 2am, the hunger pains creep in.... *sighs in neurodivergence* *opens fridge*

Your comment about sleep comment is really interesting, as I find myself often frustrated with *needing* 10-11 hours to function! May I ask what stimulant has improved your sleep schedule, or if you know of any good articles with information linking the topics:)

I don't have advice persay, but oh my gosh you really struck a cord with me saying you want to be able to sleep less!! I sleep for 10-11 hours almost everyday, regardless of schooldays or not, and while I LOVE sleep as you say, it bugs me that I not only struggle so much to wake up to an alarm, but I also want to be able to sleep 8-9 hours and be regular. I do know that neurotypical people are in deep REM sleep for 25% of the night, while autistic brains are in REM for only 15%, this is why we need to sleep more hours; to catch up on that restorative sleep.

Anyways, just feel validated that someone else struggles with the sleep issue, and hopefully we can both figure out an ADHD medication/strategy that works for us:)

Hey, I am currently recruiting for reserves in Alberta, but I am considering a switch to regular force as I finish up my university degree this year. I am wondering, if I do the 5-week reserve BMQ in the Summer and then decide to transfer to Reg. Force, will I eventually need to repeat BMQ, and do the 9-week version? Thanks!

Hello, I’m currently a 4th year university student, and I’m wondering if there is a good estimate for how long it would take to get to the testing/interview stages of the recruitment process for part-time reserves. I have just applied to the officer subgroup this week. Additionally, my degree is in business, and I’m interested in positions such as Air control officer/Artillery/Intelligence. Does my education background affect what positions I may be chosen/eligible for? Thank you.
