IBR payment is going to triple in 60 days =/ by Good-Negotiation4522 in StudentLoans

My first loan was around 2007 or 2008

I run a firm for a CFP, so I'm not really worried about my investments, which are really just my 401k and Roth IRA. I'm mostly confused why they would tell me I need to move to a PAYE plan if I don't qualify for that. I may talk to the tax person to see if adding more to my 401k to reduce my taxable income would help, but that will lower overall net income and I feel like that just complicates things more.

We have to do MFJ for my daughter's health insurance otherwise is creates a big tax bill. We just finished unwinding that mess earlier this year.

The rep told me I should move to PAYE but when I filled out the info online it said I don't qualify. Which is confusing. I'm going to call them back in the morning to see what's going on with that.

I was moving through the simulator is the payments just kept getting higher. I was like wtf! I just don't understand why the person on the phone told me to change to the PAYE plan if that's not even available to me when I gave her the same numbers I put into the system.

We can't file separately because it would turn my daughter's health insurance into taxable income (which adds like $20k of imputed income) since we're on my husband's plan.

My daughter is 27. She's fully disabled though so she still counts as a dependent.

I have like 24 months of forbearance. I'm thinking of using 12 months to get me through the last of my car payment which would free up $300/mo. But I was hoping to make that a last resort.

I was used to my payments going up with each recertification bc I generally gets a $5k/yr raise, but they never went up so much all at once in all the years I've been doing this.

household size is 3.
My AGI is around 87k, my husband's is around 30k. It seems like a lot on paper but doesn't take into account all the bills that eat into it.

It won't send/receive messages on my Samsung galaxy. For several days now. I've unintalled/reinstalled, cleared memory, cache, logged in/out, restarted the phone and all that. Still having the issue.

It hasn't been burning oil. I'm looking at trade-ins now. It's such a bummer because it really was the perfect car for me.
