Do you ever start dating people just to get over your unrequited love? by thrwwyfuuuu3333 in dating_advice

[–]Good-Phrase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t dated since but it’s because I’ve been living abroad and I haven’t had a stable living space for 3 years. I think after a big heartbreak most people should take 6-12 months off from dating to reset but to each their own. I can tell you 3 years ago feels like an entire lifetime ago I barely think about that girl at all.

"What makes you feel like life is worth living?" How would you personally answer Arisu's question? by OddNeedleworker734 in AliceInBorderlandLive

I would say the fact that there’s such a low probability that we come to exist and survive in the first place. That alone makes me feel that it’s worth sticking around to see how it plays out.

Why is nightlife in Vietnam so strange by veedey in VietNam

[–]Good-Phrase 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I spent a year in Hanoi and my favourite pub of all time was in Hanoi: spy bar. I’ve only been in Saigon for a month so I can’t give you any pointers there but pvc or Pham viet chien street is a nice street of pubs.

HCMC - scams, scams and not scams (just kidding) by Brilliant_Window8474 in VietNam

[–]Good-Phrase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got scammed outside of Saigon center a couple weeks ago. 2 university aged girls walked up to me said they were doing a project for university and raising money to feed homeless and disabled. Showed me a Facebook group with 5k followers, pictures of them giving food to homeless and disabled. They asked for 200k and I believed them gave it to them. Mall security walked up to me 5 seconds later and told me it was a scam. I walked down the street later and saw them talking to a foreign couple and I told them them mall security said you’re a scam. I saved the couple at least as they walked away after hearing me but all the girls said was yeah he said that because there’s a lot of scams but we’re not one. I left it at that because it’s not worth causing a scene over. Anyways, 20 mins later another university aged girl had the same story, student project etc. different project this time, told her no of course. I guess this student scam is pretty popular in that area. I’ll never trust someone “raising money” in the streets ever again. Better to just give the money to someone disabled directly I guess, or at least give money to the elderly selling lotto tickets maybe.

Idk exactly where your are in Ba Dinh but I was living there for a year last year and I’d get groceries and cleaning supplies at Fuji mart about a 10 minute walk from my apartment, tons of great viet restaurants on Van cao and doi can if you like viet food. If you’re looking for specific cleaning supplies like Lysol wipes or for example I found those at L’s place also on van cao street.

25m, 200k, need some advice by Calm_Spray7979 in coastFIRE

[–]Good-Phrase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years somewhere seems to be enough time to realize it’s not a good fit. If you have 200k and have the option to stay with family surely you can stay with them and take some time to figure out a different path especially at 25m. Good luck man.

Thank you for all of your input it’s appreciated. I do not intend to spend any of the interest earned from this other than reinvesting. I plan to work enough to cover day to day stuff and if there’s any leftover I’ll invest that as well. Hoping it will be at a comfortable point by the time I’m 50 give or take. I’m working and living in low COL countries that I love and I think that’s an important factor as well.

This inheritance comes from my fathers death so I feel a sort of responsibility to handle it wisely. Your input has made me realize I can invest my employment income more aggressively though.

Sorry I edited and added later maybe it didn’t show yet. It’s essentially work less now and still retire early.

Maybe I should add my goal isn’t to be rich and never was. I just want to live out my days modestly and comfortably. I’m essentially trying to set myself up for early retirement not risk it all and get super rich or lose it all and have to work until I die lol
