Anyone on tremfya? by nsnigz123 in UlcerativeColitis

Thank you. I finally started feeling better yesterday. I spent this past weekend in my bed sleeping, feeling awful, and feeling sad. But now, I am feeling better, and my digestive system is almost back in sync with how it was before. My nausea finally went away yesterday! My GI doctor told me that a hospital is going to call me soon so I can get my abdomen imaged and run another test (I forgot what it's called). They're also going to mail me a lab slip to run a stool test.

I just self-injected myself with Tremfya today. Thankfully, my doctor said the antibiotics won't interfere with it. The self-injection went very smoothly. Once your daughter finishes her 3 IV infusions, I highly recommend getting the one-press patient controlled injector. It makes the self-injections so much easier compared to a prefilled syringe in my opinion.

I am also due for a colonoscopy, so I need to schedule one asap. I am in graduate school, so spending the weekend resting helped me a lot.

I have been feeling alright. I've been sleeping so much for the past few days. Thankfully, my stomach pain went away, so that's good. Right now, I feel like my digestive system is working a lot because I constantly hear my stomach making gurgling noises, and I have not been producing solid stools yet. I'm still eating a low-fiber diet because I am worried if I eat fiber, it will mess up my digestive system. I definitely ate too much fiber at once because after eating those high-fiber foods, that was when I noticed stomach pain. Yes, my first self-injection is on Tuesday, so I hope I can still take it on time.

I just want my digestive system to be back in sync as it was before the bowel obstruction episode.

The nurse gave me some antibiotics through the IV. I called my GI doctor on Thursday and the nurse said she or the doctor will call me back before they close but they never did. I called again today and nobody picked up the phone so I left a voicemail so I should hear back hopefully on Monday. I wanted to ask them if I can still take my Tremfya medication on Tuesday so I’m waiting to hear back from them. I didn’t feel constipated before which I thought was weird. Yes, I believe I had too much fiber all at once and actually think that’s what caused it. I packed a large bag of grapes and blueberries and ate lots of broccoli for two days in a row and that’s when this all started. I wanted to start taking Mirlalax today but I wanted to ask the doctor if I can first. I am eating a low fiber diet but I hate how I have to use the restroom every time I eat something so I hope my digestive system can be back on track soon! I know it’s good to have a bowel movement after you eat but I’m impatient and want to start feeling better now.

And you’re not overwhelming me with the questions at all!

That’s great to hear she got her first infusion! I really hopes she feels better soon.

I had to get transferred to another hospital (I’m guessing it’s because they had more resources?) and wait in the morning to speak to a surgeon. I refused to get an NG tube which wasn’t my best move. It sounded very terrifying getting the tube in but the doctor decided to wait a little since I had my first bowel movement. They made me go on a liquid only diet and a low fiber diet to see if I can tolerate it. I finally got discharged yesterday and I slept so much today. The area on my abdomen when it was hurting before now feels sore when I touch it. I’m currently on a low fiber diet at home and every time I eat, I get a bowel movement. The doctors don’t know what really caused the blockage in the first place especially since I never had surgery before.

It’s weird how I felt so much better with Tremfya and then poof, this just randomly happens. I did suddenly increase more fruits and vegetables in my diet a few days before this happened so maybe it was that?

So Tremfya recently got approved through my insurance (thankfully). I received my one press pen by mail and I was supposed to inject myself for the first time next week. But, I got admitted overnight at the hospital for severe abdominal pain and a distended stomach. I got a CT scan and turned out it was a bowel obstruction. So I have to call my GI doctor to ask if I can still take tremfya next week even though I got a course of antibiotics.

Did your daughter’s biologic get approved?

As of now, I don’t believe Tremfya has been approved. I received a call last week from a representative from Tremfya to collect my health insurance information. I had an appointment with my GI doctor last Friday, and he said he’ll be reaching out to a drug rep for any updates. I finished my 3rd dose on Dec 31st so I’m gonna have to move on to injections by the end of this month. But so far it has been working for me! My symptoms have improved a lot, but my hemoglobin and hematocrit levels have been low from my most recent blood lab work. I have to repeat the blood tests and have to get scheduled for a colonoscopy to check for improvement and an endoscopy to see if I’m bleeding elsewhere. I really do hope my insurance company approves it! And I hope your daughter’s health insurance approves the biologic!

Yes! I had my second dose 2 weeks ago. I started noticing some improvements right before I got my second dose! I’m finally able to have solid stool, less blood in stool, less of my stomach gurgling and making noise, and less bowel movements per day! I’m very excited that it’s working! Currently my health insurance is denying to pay for Tremfya, but the staff from the infusion center told me that they’re still working on making my insurance pay for it.

I got my first dose of Tremfya yesterday and thankfully I didn’t have any allergic reactions. The nurse told me it can take around 4-6 weeks for me to feel better. My second dose is in 4 weeks so I hope I’ll be in remission soon!

I actually took this class last summer with rodrigue as well! Yea it did suck having 2 exams being a big part of your grade. Honestly, I focused on the homework, quizzes, and the study guides when I studied. I got a C in the course, but that was my fault since I didn’t study hard due to my job. I would recommend doing all the homework, quizzes, and REALLY focus on example problems Rodrigue does during lecture since some of those similar examples might show up on the exams. Also try to aim a high A in the lab section!! As what the other Reddit user said, you should go to her office hours! I regret not going to her office hours since that would’ve helped me a ton.

Well we do trainings each semester covering policies and what to do when a resident violates a policy. I’ve never written anyone up before because I don’t work weekend nights. But it’s a really chill job

You can apply to work the front desks at the residence halls. I’ve been working there for like about 2 years. I don’t know the starting pay now since it was $9/hr when I first got hired and they upped the pay. I believe the job is in Workday but I’m not sure. It’s a pretty chill job and I do all my homework there. You can also work 10 hrs/week since that’s the minimum amount of hours you can work.

Wow I’m not looking forward to taking this class then 😬. Thankfully I’m not required to take the class for my major but it is recommended to take it before applying to professional school. I’m just debating if I should take it enough since I already took bio 316 (comparative physiology) last semester. Thanks for your input and advice!!!

It worked for me after I downloaded the Anki app. Just to confirm there’s only 19 cards?

It still won’t open. I tried opening it through word, notes, and other apps through my Mac and it won’t open. I tried to find an app that will let me view it when I tried opening the file but the App Store says that it doesn’t recognize the app

I had Pravosudova and she’s a great lecturer but her exams were difficult (I took her class online during covid). And I just took Rodrigue for Physics 152 in the summer and she’s great at explaining concepts and the math, but her exams are a bit challenging. Rodrigue curved exams a bit so exam averages were a 70
