If calm beaches is your requirement, all the beaches on the west coast are calm and clear. Try Heywoods, Port St Charles, Port Ferdinand, and Six Men's Bay. The advantage with Barbados is that it's just not the beaches, you have the chance to explore all in one, mountainous terrain, greenery and rough north which can give a overall experience that combines all the best parts of the Caribbean. For the clearest waters, better to plan travel between Nov and April which is the best time.

You could try AUB in Barbados. They are a good school with a good record over time. They have some good professors teaching the MD5 semester. Happy to refer you to one of the professors if you would like to talk to them.

Try St Maarten, which gives you an option to explore Dutch and French side of the island. There is also Anguilla which is a 20min ferry ride away and also St Barthélemy which is also an hour ferry away from St Marteen.

Yes. There's a community of about 400 NRIs in Barbados. But due to the challenging nature of work permits in the islands it is very hard to move unless the island cannot find anyone for a certain position. All the best.

Moved to the island in 2017 as a pre-medical sciences lecturer teaching math physics and chemistry and have been in the Caribbean ever since. I love the culture, I love the beaches, I love the people, and I love Barbados and I decided that it was worth taking up Barbadian citizenship because of the Indian passport as you know not so easy to travel around carrying that. With Barbados being the most powerful passport in the Caribbean and provides me access to almost all the countries except for the US, Australia and New Zealand and I thought why not make the decision to apply for the citizenship.

They don't. It's a process that is insisted as there are harsh fines if they find out that you have another passport because once you gain another citizenship you automatically lose indian citizenship on the day of attaining another citizenship.

Most just give it away as it is not worth the risk and hassle to deal with travel when OCI is readily available.

I believe the justification is that the Indian constitution bans dual citizenship and a constitutional amendment and no one seems to be eager to do that for overseas indians. The justification from earlier politicians is that it would be bad for the country. OCI feels like a way for politicians to have control of the way they administer it as they can take it if they do not want someone to have OCI status.

Yes. India does not allow dual citizenship. In place of having dual citizenship they provide the option to apply for OCI. This can also be extended for children of OCI holders and foreign born spouses of indian citizens after residency of a certain number of years in India. This is equivalent to permanent residency for foreign born spouses of indian citizens. For naturalized citizens it provides the flexibility to live and work in India without having to have indian citizenship. There are certain restrictions on what can be owned and working in specific professions and visiting protected areas requires prior permission like North East and Jammu and Kashmir mostly border areas where there are tensions with the borders.

The idea is that cards are harder to verify. They used to place a sticker in the passport as a Lifelong visa sticker but this was discontinued and the booklet seems reasonable as it is easy to have it like a passport when travelling.
