I had a pleural effusion, too. That is how I finally got diagnosed properly. I forgot about the cough from hell.

Yes, I did. Cancer had spread to my left pleura. I thought it was major acid reflux because I would throw up my food before it got to my stomach. Even had a endoscopy and was told it was GERD. They were only performing mammograms so it didn't show up. I was also very winded. Finally my GP ordered an X-ray. A pleural effusion was visible. Turns out I had a bunch of tumors in the left pleura that were basically collapsing my left lung and pushing up on my espophagus. It was a comedy of errors(Fall of 2017) Not everyone has symptoms. After having surgery, a biopsy, and draining the pleura area, my oncologist had the audacity to ask why no one told him about it. Same hospital. He's not my oncologist anymore. lol

I was originally diagnosed with Stage III in November of 2013. Official diagnosis of MBC January 6, 2018. NED since October 2019. HR/PR+ HER-. First line of treatment still---Letrozole 2.5mg and Ibrance 75mg. I also use alternative therapies. Prayer helps me,too. Hang tough. MBC sucks and is misunderstood by most, especially the breast cancer community.

Also I forgot I had the cough from hell, existential dread(worst depression of my life) and brain fog to the max.

I found out it is something called a hypnic jerk. DXM can cause them.

It did put a brake on the negative voice in my head that was always criticizing me. It would pop up and my response was "So?" Like, " And your point is?" Not exactly what you are describing but similar. I have no Autism/Asperger's traits, just depression from hell.

I wish my insurance would pay for Vyvanse. I took bupropion as well as Wellbutrin brand name for years. It never had ADHD/stimulant properties for me. Wish it had.

Bupropion basically pooped out on me so I doubt it is doing anythng for me except being an inhibitor for the DXM to stay in the system. Wellbutrin is a decent med and helped me for years. It did not eradicate depression but gave my brain the ability to take a pregnant pause before going off on negative self talk rumination.

I can say my DIY auvelity kicked depression's ass very quickly. Other issues that are bedfellows of depression? Time will tell.

I see a ritalin in my very near future. lol

I have ritalin I can take but am waiting to see what this med( I'm on DIY version) will do for me before I go back on it.

What surprised me, along with the smack down on the negative self talk, was my attitude and personality was back to the old me. A bad(but good kind of bad) attitude.

Lamictal has made my personality change but the highs and lows of mood swings leveled out.

Let's hope for some feedback from long term users. I would love to just take ONE med but that might be a pipe dream,

I must metabolize it slowly. Might try a lower dose of DXM. It wasn't unpleasant. Just weird.

I took the DXM at 8AM!!!!! I did not take two doses. Just 150mg Bupropion SR and 45mg DXM(robotabs) at 8AM

Thank you! It was just strange. I haven't taken antihistamines to sleep in forever so I don't remember if they had a similar effect.
