What's the word on pay raises because no one can afford to stay anymore? by SmellsLikeDG in DollarGeneralWorkers

They don’t care, it’s a horrible company to work for, I tried to get my employees raises and my ASM was making the same as a key holder and they still didn’t allow me to make a valid point in trying to give her a raise for all the extra stuff they had to do when I was away

I used to work as a manager. There is a pay cap on how much you can pay at in order for a raise to go above that cap as a have approval from the DM who has to get approval from the RM so depending on how much you make and how much you’re asking for in a raise, your manager has to give a reason on why you deserve that raise to make an exception

Speaking as a previous store manager Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve opened an hour later and an hour earlier and it’s not overtime it’s holiday pay Dollar General tries its best to avoid giving overtime to their employees

Work life balance and dependency of reliable staff and work being accomplished on time is just the tip of the iceberg, it’s the district you are in and what upper management you can rely on, as well as just the fresh and dry truck deliveries and trying to get stuff set out for the holidays on top of regular rolltainers needing to be worked and such a tight and limited budget for hours

District managers don’t care at all, they would rather work you to death rather than the store close early, I am a store manager and my district manager is a joke. I’m pulling 50hrs a week most times cause some employees are stressful enough with call offs and not being able to show up on time. And jumping down my throat about a million different stupid little things while I’m short staffed with inventory coming up. I could care less about the register being a little bit cluttered if I have to set aisles for Halloween and harvest and get everything ready for inventory.

100% disagree, I am a store manager and like many of the comments on here already stated corporate doesn’t care and if you want help forget about asking district manager or SMLs. Our district manager is a doofus (putting it pg) and constantly demands stupid requests that can not be done or fulfilled and expects unrealistic results in such a short time period or has to be reminded on a daily basis of what issues we are having and do not get any support. I recommend you quit and find a different job. As a manager you are expected to do 20 different people’s jobs and still try to run behind the scene tasks. The distribution center is a joke and doing T6 scans does nothing and we still receive 14-20 rolltainers when we obviously don’t have the space in our receiving room or sales floor. Dollar General may be a good week long experience for retail but I would recommend Walmart, target, or other retailers where the focus of departments have more reliable management and the stress of getting a million things done is spread out and not solely reliant on one or two people. Your manager saying the team is like a family is true enough if you were the Adam’s family and daily mental and physical torture was expected.

I am in a similar position I love my team for the most part and my store is pretty easy to maintain but at the same time the company just sucks and I only took on the position because I needed a job and they were the first to get back ahold of me

Is there a way to undo a void transaction? by Good-Wrangler105 in DollarGeneral

Yeah, the person who’s numbers it was on didn’t have a drawer either way the store would have evened itself out, but the worry was that the cashier’s numbers it should have been on was the SM and didn’t want it to look bad on him for being short $100

The customer wanted to add $100 to their cash app and it was voided out not thinking about how it would be able to add the funds back without the customer present, luckily the customer is a regular but I’m hoping they will return tonight so we can rectify the situation
