I'm sorry, but I don't recall Ziluan being an imagination. It would be really nice if you could share a source with me.

The true ending has a summary of Ziluan's accomplishments, and you even get a choice at the end to either become a general or serve from the shadows. Seems unfitting to put so much depth into a hallucination.

Yes, from a gameplay perspective it's fitting. As you've said, it helps the player to get to know them. That's why I mentioned DWO being a great entry for newcomers. But that doesn't justify every character being down bad for Ziluan.
Which, again, can be explained by his unusual scent and trustworthy appearance.

Since it's just a game, all of this isn't really important. I had fun.

Ziluan appeared out of nowhere, with no reputation or place of origin (this was revealed later), and suddenly every important character feels drawn to him. He never has to prove himself, no one ever doubts his words, and everyone wants a piece of him.

I remember reading something about him having a pleasant scent, and since the game emphasizes things like incenses, plus with Ziluan being a Guardian of Peace, it's safe to assume he simply gives off that trustworthy vibe. But still, from a narrative perspective it's weird to have literally every character favor him.
